  1. Looking forward to seeing it. Cheers Sib
  2. Good choice - you'll not go far wrong with that rifle. Hope you enjoy your new gun. Sib
  3. I like the Steve Price DVDs. They're a bit amateurish in production terms but the content is very good and he is an excellent hunter and shot. If you can get the old John Darling ones they are classics. Search on YouTube and watch some excerpts. The Total Airgun ones are ok - good filming and production, but a bit clinical for my taste. I was really disappointed with James Marchington -Rabbits. I was expecting a lot more, but to my mind there was too much instruction and too little hunting. Finally there's a DVD made by an amateur camera man (and seemingly semi pro pest contro
  4. Nice video Si, showing holdover/holdunder. Now you've got that cracked, I'm really looking forward to the live quarry scopecam video. Cheers Sib
  5. Blimey. If I took my rifle to work they have the City of London shut down in 10 minutes and a sniper on every building! Sib
  6. See Davy's other thread here, for all the details: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=135398 Sib
  7. I wanted a basic 3-9x40 scope for my springer (HW95)and ordered one from JSR. Not only did it arrive very promptly, it as excellent scope for the money. Have a look on some of the other airgun forums and you will find plenty of praise for their products Cheers Sib
  8. Excellent video Davy. I'd like to see Zini doing something similar with .22 so that the members could compare the different amounts of holdunder/holdover required. This would be an excellent graphic example to illustrate Zini's other thread about holdover. Cheers Sib
  9. Nice one Si. I think the most important part of the document is the following sentence: "...... you will have to be very familiar with the ballistics of your particular weapon and ammunition at all distances." This is vital as you can sit and look at a programme like Chairgun Pro for hours and in theory it should be accurate, but for some reason and in particular at longer ranges it does not equate to the scope on my particular rifle. Also worth bearing in mind that not all scopes are true mil-dot scopes. This is why you need to use a trajectory chart that you fill in yourself and then
  10. We've all been waiting, on the edge of our seats, for your first scopecam kill and - you missed! Be a good one for the out takes in a few months time! Cheers Sib
  11. Well done Davy. Didn't you forget the tears of joy? :D Sib
  12. Glad to see you back Si. Interesting that you find it best at 10x mag and the camera turned down as everyone else I've seen has the scope at 3x or 4x and the scope turned up. Whatever works for you though Really looking forward to you and Davy getting some hunting footage up. Cheers Sib
  13. Nice write up Davy and good pictures. I'm still struggling with the allowance for windage, but I guess it will come as I gain more experience with the new gun. By the way - is that the airgun hunters McNab you've got there? Cheers Sib
  14. Nice write up Kev. Good to see someone hunting witha springer. Happy New Year Cheers Sib
  15. I think with air rifles, the best bet is to watch for a couple of days and mark out their sitty trees. They will often land here before dropping down into the pattern. If you can position yourself, well concealed, somewhere near the tree you can pick them off from there rather than wait for them to drop into the pattern. I've never been very successful, but was pleased to see silentshot1's write up on another thread detailing his success. Cheers Sib
  16. Excellent start Davy and look forward to more on live quarry. It certtainly adds a new dimension to shooting videos. Happy New Year mate. Cheers Sib
  17. Well done mate. Cracking write up and an excellent picture at the end. Well done for having a go at decoying them as well. Happy New Year Cheers Sib
  18. My S400 likes Air Arms field 5.52 best, although I am experimenting with Falcon Accuracy Plus, which have a much flatter trajectory. As for scopes, a lot of people on various forums have been very happy with the J.S.Ramsbottom offerings. Cheers Sib
  19. Excellent write up. It does look as though you've got a duff one there though, so I'd probably take it off your hands (to help you out) Cheers Sib
  20. So you should be. I think they're a cracking rifle and you got a decent scope with it for a very good price. Finally, what a lovely wife to buy you a present like that. It has the S4*0 internals so will be super accurate. Always fancied one myself, but the price has put me off a bit. Hope you get on well with it and keep us up to date on your exploits. Cheers Sib
  21. Top man. Have a good trip and look forward to seeing the new stuff on your return. Cheers Sib
  22. Opinel No8 if you want a folder and Mora if you want a fixed knife. Both easy to sharpen and keep clean. Only problem with Opinels is that the wood can swell if they get soaked and make it hard to open and close. Cheers Sib
  23. HW95 would be my choice. Well built gun, excellent trigger and full power straight out of the box. Also not too pellet fussy. Lighter than a TXHC or HW77/97 to carry around. Cheers Sib
  24. Interestingly Zini has bothe the HW100KT and the R10 and in one of his posts he rated the R10 higher. He may be along soon and be happy to steer you in the right direction, but to be honest any of the quality PCPs with do the job - Air Arms, BSA, Daystate,FX, Weihrauch etc.... Cheers Sib
  25. Excellent news Si. I'll be looking forward to the new videos and the "through the scope shots" showing holdover/windage adjustments etc. If you've seem all of Emma's videos (Synpercat and Cubleycat)you'll see how good this view can be. Cheers Sib
