  1. right im in the middle of building a new hutch and run for my ferrets, i have used a few different types of wood and the misses is kicking off and wants me to paint it because it looks ugly lol. So what is a good ferret safe paint to use before i clear treat it. oh and she wants it pink as a compromise to me getting a new dog thanks
  2. I've just got a jrt that I want to work. I have been working ferrets for years but now want a digging dog. I'm up for a few trips out if you cab show me the ropes, and I'm not afriad of a bit of graft. Plus you can come work my permisions if your willing to share yours ect... I'm based in Swansea

  7. nice pike mate, i just wish i could get my misses to turn up whilst im fishing. but she'll get to much dirt under her nails she says haha. im hungry now from looking at the fry up time to cook me thinks. atb

  12. I'm going ratting on the weekend. Can I fees them to my ferrets. They already eat whole birds and rabbits but just thought rather than waste them, use them as food?
  13. i would be up for small comps though. a few similar sets in an area, time limit and see who gets the best bag. Can’t really call it fair but it would be a fun day out. plus if you put an inexperienced ferret out against a veteran you then see how you can improve yours as you have set the bar. just an idea

  16. well thats a lot to take in... i might just take him along to watch patch (2yr old jrt) doing his thing, if hes really up for it maybe try him on one. if hes looking scared try him in a few months. will post a write up of the day on saturday night to let you know how it all went. thanks all
  17. Well he tries to catch anything that moves in a field so I'm guessing he'll be ok. There's only one way to find out, I want him working so Im thinking the younger he gets exposed to it the better he will be. I just wanna make sure he's interested even if he doesn't catch anything.
  18. well its going to be in a closed shed first off with another good jrt who knows the shed well. so im hoping he will show him a thing or two. thanks for the live trap tip. i might try this during the week before we go just to get him used to it.
  19. im taking my 4 month old jrt dog ratting for the first time in a chicken shed and barn full of hay on saturday any tips as ive never been ratting before? thanks
  20. ill be hitting the game fairs, taking out the rifle, chubb fishing (i will bag the uk record lol) and im thinking of getting my first dog to work so will be doing a lot of training with that.
