Check the demographic on some of those states......... So, points well made by Chris and Born......I can accept there is no direct correlation. Maybe it’s just a quaint practice with no tangible benefit......it would seem so. However, Chris nails my point in his last paragraph ( a point he has made better than I did)

I would argue that your moral principals come from somewhere, you are not born with them. You are born to pro create, kill and maime, take what you need to survive whatever it takes and preserve your group.......you are in short born an animal. Rightly or wrongly, I think they are dong what they think they can to stop the rot.......I understand the hypocrisy in it but I think it’s for the right reasons. I think they are saying we don’t want anybody who’s core beliefs don’t stem from this as near perfect set of guidelines as we are going to get. Everything can and has been hijcked, I really believe that (believer or not) you have to take ownership of the Bible yourself.

Phil Robertson makes an interesting point about electing American politicians (but you can translate it anywhere) He says that when you throw out the Bible, the only bench mark that exists for everything good and moral go’s with it. True godly men will be moral men and if you elect moral men then things become sane again. I am aware that it doesn’t always follow, but the rule of thumb is valid imho

Not wanting to turn it into a “bible” thread but my personal observation is that all decent systems follow what the Bible has been saying for a couple of thousand years. if you take the founding principals of the USA, mutual respect of all, not bullying your will into others, self reliance and responsibility (a principal vaulted by libertarians everywhere), Everyman should be equal. Theres nothing new in any of that......the Bible has been saying exactly that all the time. love god & love each other to me translates to have a common bond of good principals and respect &

I don’t think that American model has anything to do with trying to impose religion on the non religious, because I am thinking it could be easily seen that way. The way I see fitting Christianity with public office is this, be you a believer or a non believer there is no getting away from the fact that if people live their life according to the Bible, mind the lessons in it well and generally behave in a way it sets out then in theory everything is better, people treat each other right and dishonesty shouldn’t figure. quaint for sure in this day and age but absolutely common sense w

You don’t need to round anybody up, you just have to back the police, show the door to the f***ing Doreen Lawrence’s of the world and start telling the truth and having honest conversations. We shouldn’t be looking for reasons why with these animals, we should be challenging their communities to hold themselves up to a higher standard, we should be asking questions of them and more importantly we should be setting a bar ourselves........which one look at Jeremy Kyle any given morning will show you we are not doing !

We have a Europe full of cheque cashers and name callers.......vested interests telling lads who don’t receive a cheque 3 times a year how f***ing great it all is. A fairly similar situation really mate, I’d have just been a slave to the man and it would have been worse for the kids if I had stayed (and that’s in an area with declining quality of life and rising house prices)......a no brainer really. True mate, but I just can’t bring myself to bother any more......they have broken me. An example is my old area, it’s a fairly small town (well two towns linked together really) of around 67,000 people.....it has a Facebook page/group of 17000 members (yes 17 thousand!) Everyday the local crimes are all over it, from murder to theft, Home invasion, mugging etc etc and the police have stated as policy that they will no longer attends house break ins or such like...it’s comminly talked about how the area has gone down the khazi in the last 15-20 years........and yet, come election time

You have a hell of a lot more faith than me mate.......I don’t believe there is any mass taste to consider these things. If 5% of the population thought about these things on a once a week basis I would be very f***ing surprised. The numbers that Labour, Conservative And Lib Dem’s poll at election times proves that everyone of those people voting don’t think about it for one second.

Clowns one and all......going from being far right to being a hunt sab, labour supporter probably tells you all you need to know about that group. Years ago me and my pals met one of these overtly racist types......always blowing his chops about how he was C18 and f***ing off to Skrewdriver concerts........we clocked him working in a McDonalds one day. Stood behind the counter in his uniform with all the pakis and spades working next to him......one of the boys spotted him through the window. We went in and give it to him......never saw him again funny enough.
