See, this is what I don’t get......... I felt at about 60-70 minutes their forwards should have been doing a lot more closing down , they were playing in their own half anyway. As it was they let Rudiger and Boetang press on from the back unhindered, they just walked past the Swedish forwards and the forwards were just watching them past. Surely you say to yourself as those forwards “f**k it, I’m going to kill myself for this last 20 defending at the halfway line and just spoil at every opportunity” ? My kids team were playing last night, I always get to the pitch early to make sure everything is prepped.....and when I was done I was sat there alone and I thought to myself “this is how Max must feel every home game” lol

The last top class Argentinian team was the one that played England when Beckham was sent off...... The names on that team were unbelievable, Messi is having to play alongside absolute 1st division players at International level. He could not do much in that last game because he was played wide right and they played nearly everything down the left.....he hardly had the ball, hence dropping deeper and deeper to to try and get a touch. Being serious for a minute, I heard something after the England v Irwland game a while back that I thought was interesting. They were saying how modern rugby players are becoming so big and powerful that the hits they are taking is seriously doing their body damage......and your comments got me to thinking, is rugby getting to be just about who is the most massive? I suppose you can only really compare football players to rugby backs, I don’t think you need any ability beyond being fat to spend eighty minutes with your head wedged up another dudes chad ! Lol

Not all of them, now I will concede that rule changes have allowed weaker players to look like superstars in the modern game but there are still some tough boys playing and they train hard every day. But if we are talking all round physical ability then them lads that play rugby league would take some beating I reckon, they would certainly be a mile in front of union players.

I don’t, there have been plenty of top class football players with the physical size and strength and ability to play rugby at any level........Thierry Henry was about 14.5 stone hard fit and like a brick shithouse, same for Ronaldo (Brazil), Christian Vieri, Jonny Hartson, Les Ferdinand, Gareth Bale, Lakaku etc etc......Jonny Wilkinson wouldn’t have a hope in f**k of scoring 25 goals a season in the Championship and nor would Will Carling, Van Der Vesthasen and any other egg chaser.

Haha.....I never found all that cauliflower ears and bog seats round the necks of 17 stone blokes that intimidating ! I knew all the lads at our local club, used to go and watch a fair bit......I have seen nearly all the east London teams, Met police, you name it and I never saw one bloke I wouldn’t be confident of rinsing in a competitive game of anything! They used to be at me to come and play all the time but I just used to bat them off telling them they were all latent queers......it’s all a bit too “handle bar moustace and leather vest” for my comfort zone ! Lol lol

I watched the old crazy gang at Upton Park mate, they had some big intimidating lads in that squad. Our own Julian Dicks hit Jones with a tackle like you don’t believe in the first 15 minutes.......Julian was growling like a pit bull that day and made it very clear he was right up for any and all of that Wimbledon team. After that tackle Jonesy never wanted any part of Julian that day.......as I say, it’s all in the head.

Sport is played in the mind, rugby was massive round my old area, I used to train with them 1 night a week to top up my training for football......it was very handy to work on your pass and move. I can genuinely say that when I was still playing football I’d have run over any rugby player I ever met like a train in a competitive game! i have seen plenty of professional footballers that could have played rugby easily but not many rugby players that could play football ! Only one springs to mind, the great Jona Lomu who had great speed and athletic ability for a man his size.
