Imho mate, if the community IS the home, then the self defence claim naturally and rightly follows. If it was his house, we wouldn’t be having this conversation and the bit I think we British find it hard to get our head around is that (I believe ) the very American thing that home and community are one and the same thing in some places in America. I personally quiet like that way of thinking.

That’s a great post. I suppose what I think you missed in it (and as I understand the case) was he was going to town to protect a shop?/business?/The Town? So your scenario of protecting the home extends to the the business and or his community. I don’t think we get that concept at all in Britain, I think that’s a very American thing to circle the wagons round your community. I don’t know but I get the impression that the phrase “public space” don’t mean much in some places in the US, it’s their community and they will defend it is the impression I get and an attitude I rather like to be honest brother.

Sorry mate, hadn’t scrolled down. I get that point totally but I think it’s a very British way of looking at it. I refer you to my answer above, guns and being able to defend yourself is as much part of America as Bangers and Mash to the British. Remember, it wasn’t that long ago in the span of time they were a new world, frontier country and I think that spirit still lingers in your average American.

I’d be interested to read your view for sure. I genuinely can’t see a thing wrong with any of it. I think gun ownership and the right to defend yourself with lethal force is just something ingrained in America.

In fairness mate, most ordinary people just call the law. By the sound of it, the bloke in the right has got the shit end of the stick while the absolute articles carry on regardless……sounds about right to me, don’t you think ? Ordinary folks don’t want to and have no business wading into the shit of these type of peoples lives…..just let the law do their job is how folks think and rightly so.

Come on lads, you know what the bloke is saying. They moved a family of absolute shitcunts into a house at the bottom of my street and they were serving up…….used to be all sorts of vile specimens of humanity wandering past my house at all times of the day and night, eyeballing everything to see if they could get on the rob. In fairness, weed normally gos hand in hand with a load of f***ing scum bags these days mate (as do drink and other drugs)…..I took it that the lad was living next to a house with a load of such folk and it’s destroyed his life. The old bill will routinely take guns in an active and logged local dispute.
