I was going to sheet over the roof joists with OSB and then sheet over the top of that with steel. What do you reckon lads ?

To get the head room I’m going to vault the ceiling and clad it in T&G but I’ll strip vent the eves and make sure there’s air flow over everything.

That’s a great job that stuff, after my time when I was in the building job (I think my last job was the pyramids ! Lol ) but I’ve seen it and it’s a smart system. I think on this we are going for the “Shepherds hut” type look and feel.

Going to put the solid boards (cellotex ?) in the floors but use the bats on rolls for walls and ceiling mate, saves her about €700 that way ? Still leave 25mm gap in the walls do you advise ?

They are too cold and too flimsy mate, this job will be 100mm insulation in walls, floor, roof. 100mm stud walls Sheathed in 18mm OSB, floors are 7 x 1 1/2 again with OSB laid on top, roof the same. Wrapped with breathable membrane and then clad in powder coat black corrugated steel……so it will be a proper all weather all year round home. Still thinking about inside but I’m guessing it will be a timber clad scandi type job, she wants a Belfast sink and all that caper……statics are only about 40mm walls with polystyrene insulation, take some keeping warm in winter mate. Same as that, they came here with a view to do the tiny house and she decided he was a non starter (after 3 years) and binned him……not a minute too soon to be fair, blokes in tatters as a man ! Lol (Ask Stiff ! Lol ) Thanks for the offer mate, duly noted…… She is off to Cyprus for a work meeting (that’s obviously going to take a week !!) and Dad is here living on anti inflammatory tablets……I’m getting it all wrong mate ! My daughter has decided after 6 months of mortgage that it’s a massive scam and is selling her house and wants me to build her a tiny home on my place (she has also aimed out the boyfriend as well which is a bonus ! Lol ) So for any lads that may be interested, I’ve made a start and here is a few photos. Yep, I totally get all that mate, There’s plenty of value in everything you say. Somewhere like I live is isolated for kids, without a doubt but it’s 10 minutes into town car ride and my lad can see all his pals, go to the pub for a night out without fear of getting stabbed, everyone knows everyone and they all watch out for each other…..so it’s swings and roundabouts mate, but I do take your point. My opinion (and it is only just mine) is that our kids are going to have to deal with stuff we wouldn’t have dreamed of in our wildest nightmares and will be less free than we ever were….

I totally get the attitude of it’s a noble thing to stay in your area, but at the same token who would want to be 75 and living on some estate in Peckham or Catford ?……bars on your windows and doors and afraid to walk down the shop ? Obviously I understand the mindset of wanting to get the f**k out, who wants to live amongst these people when you are completely helpless to stop it ?…….you only get one life and at some point you have to not think about “you” and think about your kids. Its a hard one, I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer, you make your choices and live with it.

I watched a good documentary on YouTube about people from your manor mate, it was called something like “The last Eastender” or something like that…..it was about that very thing, family's who had lived down the same street forever and the daughter was moving away, another was an old girl and there was a bus driver. The funniest was a paki who could see Tate & Lyle out of his front room window saying how all the old family’s had moved out and the area was changing since traditional east Enders like his family had come to live there ! Lol
