  1. It was on the mountains matey,I'd say 400 yard's may even be understating it,the bitch done brilliant that morning, she reeled it in & dropped it & dealt with it appropriately. Obviously her quarry didn't take her serious enough when it seen it heading towards it,if it had about turned & high tailed it then it would of been long gone but it stood fixated watching & trying to make out was heading it's way by the time it decided to make a move Misty was homing in on it,bit of a fast moving frenzy entailed, twisting & turning in the heather but it was too late, the bitch had it.
  2. The dam of these pups is out of a 5/8 Grey x Razor a Saluki x Greyhound & without splitting hair's I'd say Razor too was 5/8 Grey 3/8 Saluki = no Collie whatsoever.. The sire of these pups is out of a 5/8 Grey 3/16 Sal 3/16 Bull bitch = no Collie which leaves the grandsire to these pups which again is out of Razor which we will say is 5/8 Grey 3/8 Saluki= no Collie, the great grandmother to these pups is where there is some Collie blood but again that comes from that bitches grandparents of which one was 1/8 Collie I know this to be true as I owned it along with the other dog which was 1/2
  3. You won't have no issues with them pup's like I said mate. That Felix is a proper good animal & old Misty ain't too far behind him either.
  4. Troy has a bitch called Breeze in her Keith,Breeze was out of a little bitch out of my old dog Bulpa & a bitch I had called Jess, obviously Bulpa was 1/2 Collie & Jess was 1/8 Collie but they are several generations down the line, like I said they do have Collie in them but for what it is now it's non existent,in fact I'm confident in saying if you got the pups a DNA test which goes back several generations it wouldn't show ANY Collie blood in them but as I said if people want to get down to splitting hair's Keith yes it's in there but for what's in there it's nowt.
  5. Yeah I can recall that Paul,it's a tough owld game at times, especially with dog's that have so much drive, passion grit, determination call it what you will..dog's like Diesel just don't know anything other than to give absolutely everything, yes it's a good thing but on rare occasions like that it can end up with them going too far & unfortunately it can see them never being the same animal again.
  6. There is a fraction of Collie in them your right but without splitting hair's I'd say there's no more than 1/32 of Collie in them,I know the breeding of them dogs myself going back as far as the 1980's through the great grandmother of these & it was her that carried about 1/8 Collie blood in her, there isn't another drop in them I can guarantee that.
  7. This was Rose after snapping two bones clean in half back in February 2022 whilst out working. She has a metal plate the whole length of her leg now right down to her wrist but unbelievably she came back later that year when the season started in phenomenal form. She had to return to the vets to have one of the screws removed but other than that she's been grand. Rose was the smallest pup in the litter & no one wanted her so I decided just to keep her & she's been worth her weight in gold to be fair to her. Very tough little thing, she's about 26tts & just over 30kg,she's hardly got
  8. This was how Bear was every single day for a month after breaking his neck then another pic of him as he is now,I never went to bed for 30 day's,I turned him over every 2 hours to prevent him getting sores but he still got them,he couldn't stand to clean or eat/drink..I fed him by hand & squirted water down his throat 6 times within every 24 hour's to prevent dehydration, from how he was here, then thought his recovery & learning him to stand & then walk to how he is today is quite remarkable really. He is disabled but he doesn't know that I don't think. He can jump anything again no
  9. Here's Boots on one of the many occasions I've worked him until almost his last breath, the dog has no quit in him,Bear & Rose his pups are exactly the same, all these dog's would lay their life on the line & die trying for me. None are world-beaters but they are trier's & I have no qualms in owning such dog's. On this occasion I travelled over 1000 miles,in fact it was a 1037 mile return trip to test Boots. Within 30 seconds of him exiting the car on arrival at our destination he proceeded to run flat out into an unseen ditch chasing a beastie, honestly when I got to where he was, h
  10. That dog will either keep you going or it'll be the death of you mate ..she's a smart looking thing, you've always loved the deerhound types & stuck with what works best for you. In latter years I've always been drawn to them myself,I've never owned one but I've been out with plenty throughout the year's & I do like them I have to say...I'll try pop over to both those shows then to see you,it's been too long bud..big George is a great lad,I know he's having a lot of health issues at the moment,I was just saying to a friend today I need to pop through to see him & Julie,I have no r

  15. One from the archives..a son of Razor in pursuit.
  16. To be fair he has but the way I took the photo makes it look like he's a bull terrier haha..he's a nice dog being honest
  17. I've seen both parents go bud, they know their jobs, that Felix is a serious dog on the big boy's,no messing about,he knows how to deal with them. I've seen Misty the dam putting them over too,we slipped her a good 400 yard's from her quarry one morning she flattened it in no time,if them two are anything like the parents you won't have any bother with them two
  18. Oh no way Taff!! What a lovely fella Gordon was too, honestly this news has knocked the wind right out of my sails, absolutely gutted mate! Tell you what Taff I'm going straight to my fridge & gonna raise a couple of beers for Gordon,I'm devastated Taff.. R.I.P & sleep tight Gordon & thanks for the memories Let the lads know I'm asking after them all please Taff,I often think about you all, massive condolences to Gordon's family & friends, absolutely gutted I am.
  19. Hope your keeping well Phil,I've just finished reading one of your books AGAIN,whilst reading it I was wondering how you were keeping,I'll never forget in my early year's of keeping running dog's & reading your articles in the Lurcher Journal & the then called Shooting News & taking it all in. I took heed of much what you wrote about & was always intrigued by the collie curs you kept back then. When I got my first heavily saturated collie cross I hoped above anything that it could do some of what yours did,all these year's later & I still have old Don here, the last of my cu
  20. Hey up matey, hope your keeping well yeah my little Pom was like my shadow for over 15 years,I still miss her every single day,she always lay on the back of my chair as if sat on my shoulder, her ashes reside in that exact spot here on my chair,I have lots of pics of her around the house. We had some unbelievable adventures over the year's we did & like you say she lived a fulfilled & long life, the best companion & friend I've ever had. Merry Christmas & all the best for 2024
  21. Still kicking & breathing mate...just!! My back, hips, knees & ankles are about totally knackered but I still try my best to keep the dog's & myself active. I'm not in the greatest shape myself nowadays Paul so the five dog's I still have will be my last. I couldn't do a young dog justice anymore unfortunately, nothing lasts forever as the saying goes mate. Hope your all keeping well buddy.
