i knew a dog pre ban ,that was worked loose ,he was an exceptinal deer dog ,you could leave the lamp of untill you heard him start to open up ,that was when he found his prey and was on it ,as soon as the lamp was on he would stop yaping ,the dog made the owner a lot of money ,so opening up has its uses .

i wont be doing it to say i have ,i am only going to see how many we can do with one dog ,because i have been invited to a place that has a serious rabbit problem ,and this is on 4 big farms ,the person reguarly ferrets between 50 and 60 in a hour to a hour and a half on a week end ,most of the time the rabbits are stuck up with the ferret behind them because there are to many in a hole so he digs about a foot or two ,and can pull out up to 15 at a time , he also shoots 20 to 30 with a air rifle at night on a quick walk and this has not made any difference to the damage they are doing on the o

and has for getting out ,i will be attempting the 100 with 1 dog my self ,with a few friends in the next couple of months ,all will run 1 dog rabbit after rabbit untill it cant continue running ,this will take place on a few nights ,and the rabbits ARE there to do it that is why i want to see how many we can get ,it is nothing to do with proving a point .but i wont be posting on here how we get on ,even if it can be done .

i'm not saying its possible to kill a 100 rabbits i'm saying its not impossible for a dog to have a 100 rabbit runs and need carrying off the fields! but the answer to your question would be if you was out for 5 hours then the dog would have to do that in about 3 mins each time, (5x60=300) (300/100=3 mins) then a dog would have to be running continous for about 3or 4 hours and on the move for 5 it cant do it . Please read my thread again, I never said the dogs were running flat out? they werent carrying the rabbits off the fields, Doesn't anyone have dogs that walk down the beam anymore

well said lee, to many people THINK about it , rather than getting out and doing it. i had 40 the other night, in two hours, ok there were two dogs , but Tara could have done them all on her own in the same time. also had 45 with Tara in 2 1/2 hours. had with two dogs 3 1/2 hours. how many times on land that is thik with rabbits , have you put a dozen in the bag in 5 or 6 mins. ile be honest ive done that many many times , and if you havent, WEL get out more tomo .if it can be done ,then it would be done ,i dont see it being done anywhere ,do you ,this with 2 dogs is tota

just work out the fastest time every rabbit could be caught ,then add the retrieve time of each rabbit ,then include time for the dog to recover after each run ,and see how long it would take to catch 100 rabbits ,and how long the dog would have to run for .then see if it is possible ,

yes and it was top of the range but different to this one , and some handy tool to have in your arsenal .

carl , just get a large plastic dog pet bed and raise it of the floor ,and then visit your local charity shop once or twice a month and get a few bags of old clothes they cant sell,use the clothes for bedding ,you can change it as regular as you want . and take the plastic bed out side to wash it at the same time ..

11 in one night with 1 dog, and no rabbits, hares ,or any thing that was under 40lb in weight none edible , and fought back , and all pre ban .

Bad bad advice to take a stick to him{imo} What I saw a good friend of mine do to his dog a long time ago with the same problem when the 1 dog rocko was attacking his lamp buttys dog called duke he caught hold of rocko laid him straight on the ground flat so he was in a submission type of position and made duke stand over him for about 7 minutes and the dogs for as long as I can remember never attacked him again! We went out lamping in the same year and he did the same thing to another dog so he did the same process again to the 2 dogs and it was sucessful again! I never forgot this and i

it can be used with 2 dogs if they are taught it from a pup, take a look at a team of collies rounding up sheep ,one can be doing its job when the others look on ,. ,but if i was seriously after rabbits NOT THAT OFTEN ,i would use one dog at a time ,i only own one dog ,i was referring to all the dogs i have owned ,they have all been taught the same from pups . i cant see how the other lurcher would stand their while the other was coursing and i would NEVER run to dogs on a rabbits i run 2 dogs if some one else is with me on rabbits to get them fit early on in the season ,go and watch a

nicola ,in case it has not regesterd ,foxes kill sheep ,just like a certain dog i know ? and farmers let you kill them to save their sheep .what does the other small thing go out of its way to kill, only grubs and things . there is a difference .
