  1. I hear that one I've just shown it to the missus who asks why I get up so early and come back with nothing!
  2. When I bought my tumbler it came with a bag of walnut media that I have been using since. When I got it I dumped a couple of teaspoons of jeweller's rouge into it, after reading about it on another forum, and regretted it straight away. All the brass was covered in a red powder that had to be polished off by hand. Anyway I finally got round to getting some Pro-Rep lizard vivarium substrate which has transformed my tumbling to a low labour process. Brilliant. 5kg of ground walnut grit for £16 and it'll last me for well over a year.
  3. Excellent video Mark, I'm jealous , thanks very much for posting. What camera are you using?
  4. Just click the donate tab on the top of the forum homepage mate.
  5. How you managed that group with the table the wrong way round and bolt on the wrong side of your rifle is amazing . Great shooting George, excellent group.
  6. Nice one George, you made the right decision there . Watch out for those Norma BTs, quite explosive. You'll be reloading next
  7. Some good info here I picked .222 over .223 but don't ask me why, it was an instinct thing. There's very little in it but I suppose you can make a .223 do what a .222 does but not the other way round. Horses for courses, same as all the other calibres.
  8. Leups aren't the best glass out there but will certainly be up to the task. I have a VX3 on my stalking rig and another on my foxing rig but both with 40mm objectives. They are good under the lamp and I get enough at last light for deer. I would suggest that if you are going for long range vermin i the future you go for a scope with more mag to reduce the margin of error. I have a 6.5-20x40 EFR with target turrets on my triple so I can dial in those longer shots and also see what I'm shooting at.
  9. Sam if you are in Whitby your license will most likely be open straight off the bat (North Yorks). With NY you won't get .22LR or .17HMR conditioned for fox which will leave you in CF territory. If you are predominately rabbiting you will need to base your choice around suitability and cost which would push my decision towards Hornet/Hornet K, .222 or one of the small cal CF's.
  10. Nothing better than getting your own back on the wiley magpie by getting him from a distance. Very satisfying after being given the run around for years
  11. Nice one FD, glad they're starting to show up. Nowt worse than a dry spell
  12. And here he is on the garage wall waiting to go to work with me on Monday to decorate the office. I knock the shields up out of a bit of old pine and stain them. He's got quite a murder point on the right side...
  13. Diesel and Bicarbinate of soda can be used to cure the skin.
  14. I was sat in a highseat this morning and a barn owl came and sat on my moderator! We stared at each other for about 2-3 mins before I tried to get a pic with my phone but he was having none of it. So no phot but just thought I'd share cos it was one of those amazing wildlife moments . Nothing but does from the seat so wandered off and stalked into another couple of does, one with a single kid, before finally finding a yearling buck. I managed to blow a shoulder which I was very disappointed about but these things happen to the best of us at times. He dropped on the spot and I still got
  15. If it is an old one it will have an allen grub screw at each end, remove them and belt the inner out with a soft wood drift then bung it in the dish washer. If it is the newer one the 'out' end screws off, it has two flats that you can hold in a vice (loosely) and undo by hand. Then remove inner and bung in the dishwasher. If you don't have a dishwasher use an ultrasonic cleaner or elbow grease and washing up liquid (remember to wear your marigolds). Hope this helps.
  16. Where on the site are the details Clint? Is best to e-mail & enquire for free admission.I will check. Why dont you just pay in and help the organisers cover their costs? If covering costs was a concern I doubt the organisers would offer free admission now would they?

  18. Clint I hate to be the one to break this to you mate but £2 each or 3 for £5 means you are being seen off Perfectly normal treacle, called a bulk buy discount! Not sold any for a while, but when I was £2 each would have been a pretty good price. We used to get £3.50 a brace cleaned and skinned! Never did discount mate. After I'd skinned and gutted them I wanted the full whack. Don't do it anymore, would rather hedge them than bother my arse to gut and skin for a couple of quid.

  20. +1 here If the head is a possible DO NOT CUT IT AT ALL till after its measured. But if the skull is left un-cut you will be deducted 65-90 grammes depending on its size. The picture in the CiC Red Book depicts a short nose cut.
