  1. I agree with Snap. Forget the HMR base on your criteria, and I would also forget the Hornet (you'll always wish you'd gone bigger). .223 would be my recommendation, I've just changed my .222 for a .223 and it's great for the long range bunnies (300 yds) and drops foxes no probs.
  2. The vixen was a right porker so they've obviously been tucking into the local pheasants. I've not had two so close together before, bit of a surprise really.
  3. I braved the freezing cold yesterday afternoon and was up in my seat by 3pm hoping for a Roe doe. There were plenty of slots in the snow but after an hour and a half of sitting still and seeing nothing I'd had enough and made the decision to call it a night, and it was too dark and cold to have to worry about a gralloch. I picked up my rifle to unload and a fox popped out of a gause bush to my right at about 5 yards from the seat, it sat there looking at me before deciding things weren't quite right and shooting back into cover. Rifle up, quick squeak and it appeared about 40 yards to my fr
  4. Depends what force you come under. If you have 'good reason' there shouldn't be a problem but there might be a condition such as mentoring
  5. Come on, you know you want it. Won't be here for long as I have found a replacement so might be trading it in.
  6. Italian .410 Shotty, 3" magnum action, folder, single barrel, non ejector. It shoots straight, has a clean bore, no rust. The black paint job was done before I bought it and looks ok. This is £35 and you get what you pay for. SGC holders only, must be F2F collection (York) as RFD fees will be more than the gun is worth. You can have whatever carts are left (not many) but the bullet holder stays with me. PM me if you're interested.
  7. BLUF Do you shoot wild game for your own private consumption or very occasionally supply it in fur or in feather for private consumption? 8. Hi Paul, I would be interested to know which brand of media you use. I have some here which is mixed with jewellers rouge and did try some of the stuff from the pet shop, which ended with me throwing 40 Lapua .243 cases (once fired) in the bin, due to the corn cob media becoming jammed in the cases, to such an extent it took 20 mins to clear just one case. I normally tumbler for a few hours, then US clean, the mess that comes out of the cases with the US cleaner has to be seen to be believed. It would be great to use a media in my tumbler that would clean as well as the US, any guidance would
  9. Good info that Clint, I'll be trying Dovecote Park as I need to start getting cash for a custom build Unfortunately they are not interested in shot Roe, just farmed red.

  11. Well the rain cleared up but the deer weren't playing this evening, just a fleeting glimpse of a young doe. Better look next week, maybe in time to blood the new McMillan stock .
  12. That's commitment for you . I just wish the highseat had a roof. Wish me luck, I'm due a beast soon.
  13. Try the 50 grn V-Max with RL7 Jamie, my T3 loves 'em
  14. Nice shooting ! I take it you used your 6.5x55? ....if so what do you zero it in at? Thats right Dave I used the Swede as I had been stalking in the morning so it was what I had with me. Zero is 100yds. Normally I would fox with my .222 which is also a 100yd zero but I have target turrets for dialing in on this scope.
  15. I had a wander round one of my permissions on the way home from work the other night. I was admiring the amount of deer slots I had and was comtemplating getting a new seat put up when I came across a fox about 15 yards from me. We clocked each other at the same time and he bolted before I had a chance to get the rifle up. Anyways, I walked the rest of the permission wondering how much trouble I was in for not getting home for tea on time, when I thought I would have a bit of a squeak before getting in the motor. The fox I'd seen earlier came charging in so I shouted to stop him at about 6
