  1. I wasn't aiming to sell you any!! Just wondered what breed you have in the UK?
  2. What breed of quail? There are big covies of wild Californian quail around here (Washington State). Get really tame in the winter.
  3. Welcome. Used to course in Wyoming with a guy who was from Argentina. Had some nice hotblood greyhounds. He said he coursed hares in Argentina. Any information on hare coursing on the Pampas??
  4. Hi Rhoderick, yes Ive bought from them many times, even visited there stores in Kansas and chicago, there as big as a b&q, the gear is brilliant made for the real hunters like the yanks getting into the hills for days in all extremes. ive bought there own brand gear scentlock and numerous items always read the reviews and never gone wrong, you do get hit by the taxes but seriously by the time youve got it home its worth it, still cheaper than the equivalents here, anyway have a dabble what you got to lose a few quid if your not 100% happy, Ive never been dissapointed. G. very good gea
  5. thr made for the job .. like pliers the rivet goe`s in at the same time as you make the hole ... I use an electric soldering iron to put holes in plastic collars. That way they don't fray. Or you can also just heat up a nail!
  6. [ A good working whippet would do what you want. Make sure it is from field coursing/racing lines. Quite a lot of mine have gone to that kind of home. Honestly just to run squirrels and rabbits, a dog that can take out a coyote is too big, but a beddiex with the spirit to want to take out the coyote is just right.
  7. How long do they live? A lot of US Deerhounds seem to die very young. Here's one of my old dogs. Taken about 20 years ago. He lived to fourteen.
  8. GET THE WHIPPETS ON EM MATE.. I'll let you know when we get one treed! I know the silly f..ing whippets would give it a go!
  9. It's getting to be a regular sight. Usually just one and in the early morning on a road kill deer. The Yakima Indian reservation is only a few miles away and the Indians won't let non-tribal people hunt on the Res. so the cougars always have somewhere to lay up undisturbed.
  10. Five together? Heck of a litter. I'd guess it could be a mother and four of last years cubs. Don't know enough about them to be sure. A bunch like that would be devastating to the local deer and elk population.
  11. Yes you can hunt them in season and only in some areas. In this State Washington and across the river in Oregon the Antis put a stop to hound hunting a few years ago,but lions or cougar are getting so plentiful and not afraid of man that hunting with hounds is now allowed in this area. It's legal in a lot of other states. UpHillDoc the man to ask.
  12. Hey Doc. Better bring those hounds over this way. Picture taken just across the river from us. One seen in town last week. Looking over a keep fit walker. I hope she was an Anti! The hiker must have been too skinny because the lion just walked on by!! Can't think why there are not many deer around?
  13. ==================================================== I don't think we have a legal season in WA yet. Could be wrong. I see stories all the time of wolves killing hounds. The outcome of an encounter with 'Yote dogs will probably depend on if you run into a single or a pack. Good luck. Hope you don't get wiped out!!!! If you have 500 Elk around I'll bet the calf crop will suffer badly. Got room for one old passenger one of these days?
  14. How long have you had wolves around Doc? I think I saw one here a few weeks ago. Didn't think they had got this far, but I know there are two active packs in WA. The conservationers are aiming for seven. They could have worked down the Yakima Indian Res.
  15. I'm looking for a Border male. Pup or young adult. Any good working Borders your way?
  16. If the $$ keeps going down in value it will be cheaper to go to the USA!
  17. This one is Whippet X Stag. About 18 months old. The coat is not very heavy, but more than a Whippet. Thats a hansome dog that whippet /stag. bet he can put a turn or to on a jack rabbit. stevemac Yes . I'm very pleased with her and will likely breed her back to another Whippet one of these days. She is 24 inches at the shoulder, just a nice size for jack coursing for me. There are some tall Whippets around and it's easy to find a really fast 23" dog. Another dog I have here is the one in the photo. Bought her at Loomis a couple of years ago and I haven't run her much.

  19. Well of course!!! I should have recognized your handle. Are you still at the same house? Hawk Road wasn't it? I missed out on my Fall trip to Wyoming and New Mexico this year. Went to see one of my kids in Switzerland, a country just about devoid of game as far as I could tell, but over run with cars and people!! I did manage to talk to one Swiss equivalent of a "Good Ole Boy" who said there are wild boar and deer, all over the place and they shoot a lot from tree stands. No hound work as far as I could tell. I have a nice 1/2 Whippet X Stag who is very fast. Great on Jacks,
  20. [ Pretty much all over the place, Mr. Tony. I've heard nothin but great things about you and your dogs by the way. I think them crossed on some of these stags would make some outstanding fox dogs. Shoot, they probably make it by themselves. Thanks for the compliments. I'd like to have a go at running coyotes again myself, but we are short of good running grounds in Washington plus the local ranchers actually LIKE coyotes!! They seem to think they kill so many gophers on the hay fields they do more good than harm. We are over run with deer (and Turkies) so the yotes must not be filli
  21. Where in Illinois do you run coyotes? The early pictures looked like they were much further West. Never hunted further East than Kansas myself. T!
