Classic sites for abcesses are top of the head, under the chin, side of the face & sometimes base of the tail, if the vet had lanced the abcess you would have probably had to go in the following day & re open it anyway, so if thats the case a sterilised scalpel would have been needed . Rather than pick away at it with your fingers, thats the best option & it was what i was told to do by my vet last time i took a ferret with an abcess, once the puss was removed by flushing with a saline solution Naturally theres a need to see a vet on occasions & people arnt being told t

Thats a lovely picture Isn't it? Love the big grin on the wee lad's face. it was at a cider and camping weekend at a cider farm in november,it was a charity night pay a couple of quid and drink till you drop,15 types of cider and perry,problem was if a cup was left unatended the tidlers would have them! jack on the right went to bed singing! I apparently went to bed singing when i was 3 at my brothers christening , all the dregs of sherry i necked & then fell over & hit my head on the fire grate may account for why i am like i am

I am pretty sure the malt paste would have had a laxative effect on the ferret if its eaten a lot of it, if your at all worried under the circs i would get him to a vets due to where the lump is

Well me personally i dont contribute a great deal to the questions being asked about the working side of keeping ferrets , basically because its the area i have least experience in, but i do read the posts & try to take in whats being advised , so that i can then put the ideas into practice. I think we all have something to offer, in my case the experiences i have had over the years regarding the ferrets them selves . We all pick up ideas & tips along the way & i do think this forum in particular has the best in way of good basic ferret knowledge as well as the ins & ou
