  1. What a guy, top notch , he is,... very impressive skills ....(& it's no coincidence, he's Scottish too ! ????)
  2. I've seen two or three, on here, with the knack for that "art" . Think "moletrapper" was maybe the last post (with pictures) I viewed ?
  3. I will have all the mole traps, & the mole trapping spade, please ! (I will send a postal order, ok ? ?)
  4. Sorry , this was actually meant to be in response to "foxdropper" ! (Well , your usernames are similar ?)
  5. Just thinking, maybe Clive would know, if they still actually, produce them ?
  6. Thing is, no two Taxidermists works, of whatever specimen, look the same. (You'll know what I mean) To me this is Rob's (signature) style, of old reynard, particular to him, maybe...& I recognise that, & I can see the appeal of it too.
  7. ?, ......well, you hear the mole population estimates, I've heard from 30 to 40 million, nationally ? ,....a can't personally see anywhere near that ! ,....but who really knows ? ,....its got to be going down every year ???,....maybe still in the millions,....but not them figures !
  8. Moles & mole catchers , won't be liking the drought, 'darn sarf' ,...I'm sure , mate ? (always dislike hearing about this type of weather, etc)
  9. If I had a few of your 'mole contracts', i might be , Katch ! ??
  10. A recently seen a video of a guy, "Dave Archer" ,....talking about moles, (British guy, it was one of the BPCA, ones, he shows this Trap, f..k sake , a thought it was a "bear Trap " ,...but he claims it was a "man Trap " ?,....you ought to have seen the SIZE of this thing, unbelievable (I'm too thick to know how to post links from You Tube here)
  11. A was thinking what you where, about the design, but wasn't sure , so glad you confirmed ?,.....so your not gonna buy a dozen then, Phil ? ??
  12. Looks a monster size,......interestingly the Netherland/Dutch mole (its European, so same type, but whether a sub species, im not sure ?) are LARGER, or have been found to be, generally , than on the UK mainland, etc, it seems ?
  13. I tried to source a French trap or two, the other day, CAUET , original mole trap. But, im not even sure they are still available ? & the website returned my order money, etc ,...(well, there didn't seem to be any direct shipping to UK , anymore , anyway , & I tried to get round it, but failed....maybe Brexit ?),......
  14. How , whats your thinking, does the mole not warrant the level of respect, as regards , any control measures ????? (just asking)
  15. How discerning of you ?,..but insightful ! Reality for me is, it still doesn't adequately address, the issue of any foul caught mole, or inadequate trap, etc, anyway ? Catching pregnant & suckling doe moles, what about that ? ,....if I stopped trapping end of March/ beginning of April up here , i could avoid more potential suffering, than the latter proposed measure, perhaps. (Be out of a job too, but ! ?)
  16. "Welfare" for moles ? ..any proposed measure by whoever, just falls far short, anyway. If translocation could prove to be a viable alternative, to any lethal control method,...i would adopt it, where possible, & as a way forward...but alas, any preliminary field trial results (very limited, right enough) by the wildlife researchers, etc, in that regard so far, have proved inconclusive. I personally feel , there's scope , for further more extensive field experiments, nevertheless. (easier said than done, I don't doubt )
  17. 'How to catch a mole' , by Marc Hamer,....I think it is. Maybe I should read it, for the enlightenment. ? (although I've always wrestled with myself, regarding this occupation, in truth,...)
  18. Great skills,.......(when you doing me something special, with a wee mowdie (mole), then ? ?)
  19. "Rob Atkinson" , who I've also had correspondence with in the past,....his attitude is indeed thought provoking,....sure, there's also some former Welsh mole catcher, (more recently) who obviously also had some writing talent (hence a book, deal, apparently),....now advocates the mowdies shouldn't be culled, but instead tolerated,......
  20. This dairy farm is the only one I do, that voluntarily converted, to injecting slurry directly in the ground, for a good few years now. I've noticed this practice appeals to the local mole population. It's drawing them in from neighbouring boundaries, obviously cause of the improved soil habitat for earthworms & invertebrates. They also put a few fields over to wheat (unusual here,...& when it's ploughed & rolled, afterwords, also creates ideal conditions for moles prey, eventually. This stubble field had quite a few suddenly appear in it , after a period.
