  1. I would not go for a Jagd. You are right, dogs of some lines may grow bigger, but they defenetely have the will (to work underground), so they likely stuck or spend lot of time and energy to arrive to the quarry. ATB, Anna
  2. There are mostly Teckels, smaller type terriers (Foxterriers, Jagdterriers, Welsh terriers and their mixes) and hounds (Kopov) used on hunts where I have visited. But at some boar hunts they also use bigger type dogs, like this Rhodesian Ridgeback. The pics were taken last year: ...but then, when the boar turns around, it may not be a good idea: (sorry for the pic quality, I stood too close to the action with a telezoom lens.) Mostly any type can be taken, but smaller types are much more welcome. Big and strong dogs are not beloved by the hunting clubs, but as soon as the dog p
  3. I must say I am less interested in hound-like dogs, but I kinda felt I need to meet their owner to have some pics, haha. Panna
  4. wow, that was a good season for you! I wish you the same for the next season. Panna
  5. Thank you, Waz! Well, I have to admit, they were first class guests! Unlacedgecko was here for the 3rd time, he knows how things go. They were very effective in both the boar hunting and the digging. The president of the hunting club, who organized the driven hunt was very much satisfied from their work! Plus they are good and funny blokes and was nice to have them around. Unlacedgecko was more active in digging (understandably, he had 2 terriers with him, while DnN only brought a German Wirehaired), but DnN was laying almost as well on the shovels as a hungarian construction worker. (I

  7. Waz, you just don't steal our guests, pls! They are first class boar drivers (and pullers, hahaha). But my latest invitation for you is still alive, come and have a good hunting week with us next year! Panna

  10. What type and for what work are you looking for? ATB,
  11. http://www.vaddisznohajtas.hu/ No english version, but you can use google translator. In my understanding these dogs are used mostly for wild boar hunts (which is legal in Hungary and in many other parts of the continent). It says: Translation: Shortly about Jagd x bulls Working terriers, terrier mixes, whicg are crossed especially for wild boar work. The main aim is a cool-headed dog which works by using its brains, owner-centered and is a good worker. According to our experiences these dogs are less "hot blooded" / "pushful" and make a nicer, clearer job. ATB,

  19. who ll take my dogs if i d be shot mate. goodpoint I'm sure mate, there would be some people standing in the line to have a dog off you! YIS,
  20. Not sure mate, but DNA testing can only proove the parents and siblings. And this is only IF both parents (and siblings) are also DNA tested. So in my understanding £60 will not tell you the whole history of the dog at all. Actually it does not make anything if you only DNA test the dog itself. Another £60/dog to see if the parenst and siblings are really who they are told/written to be. And so on and so on. YIS,
  21. Hi FF, For knowing what is the right breed (race) or type for you, you have to know what you are looking for (working style, size, etc) and why are the mentioned breeds/species (Fox terrier, Jagdterrier and Dachshund) not good enough for you. What are you looking for? YIS,
