  1. LONDON – Experts say the skeletal remains of a pigeon discovered in the chimney of a house in southern England carried a mysterious, long-forgotten message from World War II.

Historians at Britain's Second World War-era code breaking headquarters say the bird was almost certainly returning from Nazi-occupied France during the June 1944 D-Day invasion.

Bletchley Park says that a radio blackout imposed on Allied forces at the time meant that messages about the progress of the invasion were dispatched by pigeon across the Channel.

What the message says remains unknown. It was coded, an unusual measure generally reserved for the most sensitive secrets.

Bletchley Park said Thursday that one of its curators is now trying to unravel the message using World War II logbooks.

Well, you never know what you'll find when you start tearing into something old. I wonder if it flew over my father as he was going ashore. :hmm:

  5. Nice right up swamphunter. Sounds like you guys had a good day out.

I do have a question(s) about your Catch dog. Is it a pure stagdog? Unless I misunderstood. It sounds like he gets distracted by sighted game. When you want him to go to the baying. Is there a way to get around that with training? Or does it just go with the territory?

Thanks again for sharing your hunt!

  7. The same percentace of genes come from the sire and dam so they will be both as equally important .

Some pups get traits of both some the sire some the dam , some pups get traits from Grandparents, great grandparents or even further back.

Some pups get traits from their owners ie, Rearing is Important.

Its not an exact science but use the Best Sire and Dam available for the Job , Temprement, ect you want in your dog.

Good post! I'd add that not all genetic traits are easily observed. if observable at all.
