  2. I dont know about everyone else but the ticks are awful this year we are using stronghold for fleas and mange then using frontline spray for the ticks. They are building immunity to this so have been advised to use advantix next month. Just wondered what everyone else is using and how bad are you finding the problem?

Hi Sallie. Ticks are bad this year, over here as well. I don't know about the building up of immunity. But, I'm switching to K9 Advantix this month. Do to the failure of my current topical repellent/ killer.

    Good luck!

  3. I like my Hancock so far. He's a big strong pup at 28", and 70#. He was sired by John-dog, and has the coat to show for it. He did seem to pick up on lamping right away. He'll enter the water for retrieves, and seems biddable in general. But otherwise, I don't have a lot to compare him to. I'll know more in a year or two.

Still, I think he's a fair dog for the price. Certainly no trouble to keep.

  4. Tomo- The big guy here is certainly not what you might see on the tv. There is a couple of sites to check up on him. I think brightbart.com or something like that would be a good choice. If you check in at godlikeproductions.com you will get a pretty good picture about a lot of stuff from an american prospective. You'll have to wade through some b.s. there but there is so much good inside info there it's worth it. I know of no better site than that one. Be warned though, there are a lot of kooks there and don't click on any questionable link until you get to know the site. The government has people that regularly attack that site. Another would be to go to glenbeck.com, that guys got all the b*****ds in polotics by the short-hairs and was good friends with Andrew Brightbart (of the above mentioned website) before Brightbart was murdered earlier this year (the day before he was suposed to come out with a ship load of damning video and information on the big 'O. What a coincidence!

  5. I don't know much about any of the countries in Europe. What I have noticed is that there sure seems to be a lot more rules over there. It seems to me like it's the land where nothing is allowed. I have only a small understanding of your gun laws and even less of your game laws. I just know there are a lot of them!

What keeps you folks over there?

here are some of the regulations for hutning within just one state of America, Land of the Free? Don't believe the hype.

Yeah, I lived in San Jose for a couple years. California is a little different. But, we definetly have a full range of hunting an fishing laws in my home state. Seasons, bag limits, appropriate weapons etc. If your caught poaching in Michigan, granted with one conservation officer per county. The odds of getting caught are slim. But, if you are, they'll confiscate everything but your fillings. ie truck, guns, gear, and dogs. Some judges give the dogs back.

  7. Ok... firstly i live in Canada as you might tell from the flag under my avatar, Canada in case you're not aware has very few rabbits and any rabbits that are around are certainly no where near my property, so that strikes that theory out of the water, as for injury , a dog is a dog is a dog . wether its a foxhound or a whippet, i have had hounds in awefull tangles on couples and the hound has had no ill effects why would a running dog be any different

the main reason for this is the pups are being crate trained in the house, when i go in to let them out for to do there business i can let them out together coupled to the older dogs, they can do what they need to do then one gets put away an the other is allowd off, this way two pups dont team up and piss off and become ignorant, (wich is what there were starting to do) the other alternative is let them out one at a time , then you have one outside and the one left inside either crossing its legs or messing in the crate, it does also help with recall, i honestly didnt think there'd be such a nasty response,

When you put it like this, it makes a lot of sense. I was feeling sorry for the older dogs lol

    Good hunting!

The American was voted the winner in a contest run by the National Army Museum to identify the country's most outstanding military opponent.

He was one of a shortlist of five leaders who topped a public poll and on Saturday was selected as the ultimate winner by an audience of around 70 guests at a special event at the museum, in Chelsea, west London.

In second place was Michael Collins, the Irish leader, ahead of Napoleon Bonaparte, Erwin Rommel andMustafa Kemal Atatürk.

  9. Congratulations on quiting cigs vduben! Alot of good advice for taking the weight off already posted. Sensible diet, exercise, and consistancy are they way. What Duncan said about weights is also worth looking into. Running, assuming your knees are up to it. Seems to be the best way to shed the pounds.

    Good luck!

  10. The shooting of innocent civilians was tragic. If it prokose any response at all. It should be concern, for the mental health of our soldiers.

As for trying them in Afghanistan? Thats not how we do things.

Here is a link to a study I found on another hunting site. I thought you guys might find it interesting.

    Here is the abstract:

To move closer to understanding the mechanistic underpinnings of sex differences in human longevity, we studied pet dogs to determine whether lifetime duration of ovary exposure was associated with exceptional longevity. This hypothesis was tested by collecting and analyzing lifetime medical histories, age at death, and cause of death for a cohort of canine ‘centenarians’– exceptionally long-lived Rottweiler dogs that lived more than 30% longer than average life expectancy for the breed. Sex and lifetime ovary exposure in the oldest-old Rottweilers (age at death, ≥ 13 years) were compared to a cohort of Rottweilers that had usual longevity (age at death, 8.0–10.8 years). Like women, female dogs were more likely than males to achieve exceptional longevity (OR, 95% CI = 2.0, 1.2–3.3; P= 0.006). However, removal of ovaries during the first 4 years of life erased the female survival advantage. In females, a strong positive association between ovaries and longevity persisted in multivariate analysis that considered other factors, such as height, body weight, and mother with exceptional longevity. A beneficial effect of ovaries on longevity in females could not be attributed to resistance against a particular disease or major cause of death. Our results document in dogs a female sex advantage for achieving exceptional longevity and show that lifetime ovary exposure, a factor not previously evaluated in women, is associated with exceptional longevity. This work introduces a conceptual framework for designing additional studies in pet dogs to define the ovary-sensitive biological processes that promote healthy human longevity.

Keywords: anti-aging, estrogen, ovarian conservation, ovariohysterectomy, sex difference in health
