  4. HAHAHAHA, you should see some of the places me and Col go ferreting, we dream of sets like that we always come back covered in cuts, bruises, scratches and full of thorns
  5. Looks a little belter, I'm after some like that for next season
  6. A note on Jills in season If a Jill isn't mated when in season her hormones will/MAY kill her, I lost a ferret to this a few years back, there is a few simple ways to prevent this from happening. 1, look at the sticky in this section for vasectamised hobs, might be someone local to you who you could pay a visit with your Jill and she will think she has been mated and come out of season. 2, Take her to the vets as soon as you can when she is in season and a simple injection will take her out. 3, get a Hob ferret get them mated and have lots of babies but while she is pregnant as
  7. Thanks, just bought one
  8. Thanks, never thought of a search, cheers again :L
  9. How do you guys deal with and remove ticks from your ferrets? Yesterday I noticed one on the side of my young Jills face which was swiftly removed with a good grip right at the head of the tick and twisting off in a anti-clockwise motion which removed the entire part of the tick, today out again and i've found another 3 on her all of which were removed in the same manner as above removing the entire part of the tick, also on my old pole cat i have found 4 ticks on her today (1 of which was in her ear for tricky removal) however all removed same as above, now, is there any particular drops

  13. I'm staying in tonight and hopefully out with Col and the ferrets at first light
  14. nobody anywhere near and yes it was well and truly dead, i'll put up the answer at about 7pm
  15. Me, Col and his son Connor went out today to a new patch of land looks really good, holes everywhere signs of life everywhere, netted up first set, nothing, moved up the hill to what looked like a belter, checking it out and Col says I don't know what's down that hole but it stinks. so I put my hand down and can you guess what i pulled out??? Gonna leave this to run for a short while to see what daft answers you come up with and see who gets the closest, No prizes for winning answers sorry
  16. What would you say the best weather was for going out ferreting in? not for us humans in terms of the best sport when the rabbits are likely to bolt hard?
  17. My flat coated retriever has picked up a little injury somewhere while we have been out, he has quite a deep cut on one of his pads and also his claw has detached from the skin exposing what is underneath (a biut like if we were to tear off a fingernail) he doesn't appear to be in any pain but is constantly sat licking it and he doesn't limp, but with his constant licking it doesn't appear to be healing so i have give it a good wash (which he thought was great) then dried it and applied a wound dressing so he would leave it alone, now he has decided he wants to eat the dressing so i had to put
  18. OK guys, thinking about getting a pair of trousers to go out ferreting in as where me and Col-g go ferreting it is in quite think undergrowth of blackberry thorn, rose, holly and winny bushes so ideally something thornproof and breathable as the banks are really steep and lots of climbing involved so don't want to be sweating my danglies off, we have both got home today, Col has got a hole in his eyelid and thorns everywhere, my legs, arms and even my ears have thorns in them, sounds a bit like ferreting hell but thats the lengths we have to go to get a few bunnies (anyone want to invite us to
  19. he must be still out mate, totally addictive
  20. We have Col's lurcher/collie cross ( I think) and my flat coated retriever in front of us all the time, seem to lift more pheasants than anything else haha
  21. Ploughed filelds to one side and a graveyard to the other
  22. thats what I suggested but we don't understand where the rabbits are during the day, if they are in their burrows surely the ferrets will flush them out and the cover isn't that thick so the dogs should move them, either that or our ferrets are no good

    Dalmatians
