    shes about 7 months here, caught nothing so far but not been taken out with hunting in mind yet.

    So my pup is now 8 months and doing ok. She sleeps in a kennel outside with the run of the back yard. The kennel is about 5ft by 3ft inside she has and big vet bed covering the floor along with a smaller bit of vet bed and various old sheets and jumpers. The door is left open at night but does have old door matt cut into strips over the door. Its out of direct wind. Shes rough coated but its not that thick. SHould I be getting her used to a closed door to keep her warm or should I look to make any other changes?

    22/23 inch would be fine with me dont need a big dog. As long as she doesnt grow into those ears she'll be ok

    True enough, some people seem to be able to predict it though through growth plates. I have no idea what they are though!!! My first lurcher just thinking what age they might stop growing at.

    My 7 month puppy chased a dog phobic asian women round the park yesterday. She had been walking along waving a stick she had picked up, dog was jumping up trying to get the stick, she was screaming and trying to run away whilst I was shouting to her just to drop the stick. Bloody funny really when you think back. She is much better at not chasing joggers these days.

    My 7 month old pup, is similar she can be ok and waits for dogs to get closer before launching!! Some really nice tasty treats will usually get her back and I dont even bother calling her if the other owner doesnt mind, she wouldnt listen anyway.

    before splodging cash on the collar try not feeding for 24 hours and take food out with you on walk and only feed when she comes to you little bits at a time. Obviously leave other dogs at home.

    I put up earlier that I'd scruff a dog under cirtain circumstances. Well they arose today. I scruffed a dog this morning. It was a staff/GS by the looks of it. It was either that or kick it round the field. Didnt pin it down though as it stopped trying to eat my lurcher and tried to eat me!! I'd have done a damn site more than scruff the owner if he hadnt legged it too.

    Bitch got a couple in scotland when we were up there came back last sunday and I've found two more one today and one yesterday. How long do the little blighters take to become noticable, or could she have picked them up here? Just trying to sort out where they might have come from.

    I would scruff a dog under certain circumstances, but my own lurcher bitch lies limp if I raise my voice, christ only knows what would happen if I grabbed her.

    my best terrier came from a non workin background, the best all round lurcher dog i had ever bein with only the sire was working, my mates small pack of terriers are all from non working and they are as game as they come, is it just a peace of mind if they come from working background ? ex racing greyhounds are mostly from non working back grounds but they game and can ( sometimes ) work, i cant decide my self if it matters as i have sein good working dogs come from working and non working parents, , ,atb If working parents are best why are there not more lurcherxlurchers going back

    A great cyclist once said there's three ways to get fit for bike racing, riding a bike, riding a bike and riding a bike, I'm sure the same applies to running dogs.

    That was the stunning black animal,?great choice. The reserve champ was an monster unit bull cross, not to my taste, but you couldnt argue with either dog being chosen.

    That was me!! Due to lack of competition I got a couple of rosettes and a little cup!!! Good laugh but would have preferred to see a few more people there.
