  1. Just Hunt. Don't underestimate the strength and reach of the Pro Hunting Lobby in Ireland. They have put TDs and Senators in to Dail Eireann. TDs often inform us that they have a pile of emails and letters from ANTI's but very little from hunting people? As Barrie Wade once put it if we all just devoted a small piece of time and effort in doing the same we would be untouchable like hunting is in France and the US. Keep the Faith!!
  2. CORK TO HOLD FIRST RISE RALLY On Thursday 7th June at 8PM In Silversprings Hotel Conference Centre! If you are interested in or you are involved with any Fieldsports activity you should be there! If you interested in or you are involved with Shooting, Fishing, Hunting, Working Terriers, Coursing, Equestrian Sports, Pest Control, Animal Management and Farming you should attend this rally in support of your pastime or livelihood. Labour and Fine Gael politicians have a clear disregard for "our" concerns and have shown this by continuously breaking election p
  3. Hi Just Hunt. I accept what you are stating. You are quite correct and seem well informed. I wish there was more like you. The only thing the Politicians wake up to is intense lobbying by the numbers. While we are all out hunting etc the ANTI's are emailing, ringing and putting media displays such as ARAN. CONSTANTLY. They are relentless for a small group. We on the other hand have huge numbers but fail to act. Ask youself how can you help yourself and your sport ? Go online and email all the labour and FG and FF TD's. Pick up the phone arrange a meeting with your local TD's and councillors.
  4. Hi lads, in response to Corkonian & Just Hunt. RISE is back and back with a vengeance. Yes you are correct the RISE committee did Not receive any representations from any Terrier organisation because there is no such thing in the Republic of Ireland presently. Stop end is doing great work up North but that is about it on this island! But let me assure you that Terrierwork has representation on the Committee of RISE as I am on the new Committee and I am a Terrierman - FIRST & FOREMOST. The problem is we - Terriermen are totally disorganised and a lot of lads don't appear to realise
  5. Neil, I totally agree with you! Please read my previous post on saturday. Extract below. 5) A Federation that is inclusive "but" selective. Terrier work means many things to many people. We have the diehard earth dog man and we also terrier men (& women) that enjoy ratting, rabbiting and general bushing etc. As mentioned above by SAMMC politicians looks at numbers. To them numbers = votes lost or pain from responding to many, many phones calls meeting, letters, emails from pro-hunting people in our case terrier men, women and children. Less of the elitism! A point of interest with
  6. Hi Barrie, thanks your kind words. A few years back when I didn't like what I was seeing or hearing from some of the hunting orgs in Ireland I picked up the phone and wrote a few strong worded but constructive emails right to the TOP. Interestingly enough rather than being castigated for my comments a few particular individuals liked what they read and took my comments on board. Still a work in progress..... So I went from a place of somewhat ignorance (although fairly clued in) to being kept somewhat well informed and also gaining some notable contacts along the way. When asked to help I did
  7. Hi Stop End. I commend your efforts so far in getting the discussion going on this extremely important subject and getting up off of your proverbial’s to get a Federation up and running where many including myself often just thought about it. I have been following this thread for a few days now with great interest and a little dismay along the way too! On your first post you asked for some input so here is mine for what it is worth? Please note you will get all sorts input (constructive and destructive) along this journey and hopefully your efforts with some help will come to fruition. Please
  8. Fine animal. As old timer said he is nothing like Nuttalls breeding today. I saw his current breeding stock during the summer and i was shocked at there puny size. Then I saw the wallet come out and money changing hands and that said it all for me. Breeding for money and sending a lot to the U.S. market so I hear? It is sad day when working dogs are being bred for money. That is when the working ability starts to go down hill...............
  9. Hi Marvin, not sure about legislation or need for registered tatooists? Tattoo registration over this side is for greyhounds only. I tattoo my terriers with a personal identifier (my initials) and the year they were born and keep a record at home in case they are stolen. I would not consider micro chipping working dogs due to "work" tatoos and bringing unwanted people to my door. This way is a personal way. If someone robs my dogs and i track them down then I go get them and have proof they are mine. The hard part is finding them. You can get your own tatoo kit from Lambrier on the internet.
  10. Sorry to hear about this Bryan. At least you ear marked them in case they are located. I would have thought the Northsiders would have got to source of the problem by now?? I will ask about to see if anyone has heard of anything....................
  11. There are some "Working" type Sealyhams (a white terrier line) in Cork. They are hard to get but mighty to work when they click.
