  1. personally 17 HMR for rabbits and crows etc, reason its faster and kills better than the .22 plus extended range . however the .22 is quiter so its personal prefference. If you can get a fox granted on your FAC for the .17 hmr it will kill of fox upto 100 yards, but no futher. As for a real fox caliber i would suggest the 22-250 unless you was planning on shooting deer in the future then a 243 would be sutiable for both. purly foxing 22-250 all the way.
  2. i like 7.5 but im a DTL shot. Anything above 7 and below 9 will do fine, dont get too hung up in it .
  3. very good response. i feel the HMR is far superiour to the .22, techonagy has move on. when the .22 first came out it was a great little round but now the HMR has been developed, the only advantage the .22 has its its qutiness but wiht a silencer fit a to the .17 HMR i dont think its too loud. .17 HMR is as a rule mpre accrate than the .22 also helping this is the the low tragetray. ps- there not that wind effected, smaller bullet = less suface area than the .22. to all the people who think that the .17 HMR is very wind effected it is just as hard to compensate for the lob on .22 as it its
  4. pellet may have hit top of scull and richoceted off.leaving no trace but hurting/ killing the rabbit in process.
  5. can i ask why body shot with .177 and not .22. I would say other way round. Bigger pellet, more damage etc for a .22
  6. same here mate, chest shots drops them well. Never had one run over 5 yards.
  7. personall on rats at close range, less than 20 yards. I just lung/ heart shot them. I dont want to eat them.
  8. It was a wind up mate. Shumacker would have been in England with the ferreri team for the English Grand Prix anyway. Top gear simply hired him for a few hours so they could test the ferreri and get the publics reaction. we will see next week if he still has his helmet on, or not. I bet he does
  9. why not get a .17 hmr. They richocet very little, probley less than an fac air rifle.
  10. personally, go to a gun shop, with a buget and see which guns fit you. The best gun you will own will be the one that fits you the best.
  11. Gas rams dont need to be refilled mate ? They are like a spring. What do you mean
  12. we had one, put a fake one out and it didnt come back, they are territorial. Another way would be to build a wall round your pond, as a heron will not go to a pond it cannot walk in and out.
  13. i am mate, cod 6 looks good
  14. why not apply for a .17 instead of .22 if it near a motorway, less richocets etc.
  15. yer mate, stay well clear, power drops when it goes cold (walking around outside) and expensive to run as well. No warning on when CO2 is going to run out either, stick to spring or PCP
  16. No i never had any problems of jamming, but i know how it happens. When you push the bolt forward, (to load the pellet) make sure you push it all the way forward and dont pull it back, if you decide not to shoot. or else the magazine turn with half the pellet and the other half stays in the barrel. I only used good quality pellets, dont know if this had any effects.
  17. hi mate, i have one . good gun light, accurate but expensive to run. i brough i BSA Lightning 7 months ago, and would not look back. The umarex is expensive to run, Co2 being about £10 for 100 shots, and there not that high powered, to save Co2.Also like you mention it effected by the cold, so when i am walking around my range and zero is effected. Personaly i would go for spring or PCP. However if you like Co2 guns the umarex 850 air magnum is one of the best on the market. I would say, if your desprate for Co2 go for the umarex but other wise its spring or PCP for me.
