  1. does anyone have a vasectomised hob in cambridgeshire or leicestershire??? i have recently lost my vasectomised hob and my jills have come back into season and would like it very much if i could have my jills served by it. regards
  2. ferrets cant sweat.. so they can over heat. i tend to freeze water bottles and place them in hutch.. and obviously situate the hutch in the best shaded area possible.
  3. on tommorrow and monday at burghley house in stamford. is anyone going and is it usually good?? cheers
  4. i freeze water bottles and throw them into cages to keep them nice a cool. works well i think..
  5. Can anyone recomend somewhere to buy a gentlemens tweed blazer? cheers
  6. Does anyone on here breed small strong hobs? not greyhound or micro ferrets, just small type hobs, prob same size as average jill say. cheers
  7. hi, my hob tends to favour one jill. always pulling her around and covering her. so to stop this i now keep my hob seperate and just put one jill in at time. find this is best. hope this is of some help to you. also i would make sure you keep the jills neck clean and maybe put some cream on it to stop infection..
  8. is long netter doing nets? spoke to him at beginning of year and he had problems with his shoulder. but do try him, seems like very reasonable guy
  9. wondering if any one knows which is better to get with a light force striker... or is there no difference just the price??
  10. i have got a vasectomised hob but he not really the best worker but wouldnt part with him as spent alot on snip and he does his job serving jills... i was just wondering if castrated hobs were better than intact.. as may get couple next season and having them castrated means can also keep them all together. cheers for the replys
  11. one my jills is small type 2nd season and tends to get dragged if she gets a hold, ive actually seen rabbit run out hole with her attached. my two younger jills are in there first season so obviously they are still learning the game. and my 4th is older jill who will kill. im happy not to dig all time as i said before due to alot being thick hedge or hard digging. i believe they have there place but think that strong hob will just get on and kill, take bit more stick. and is castrating them improve how they work.. i.e concentration not having the hormones a full hob would have....
  12. I myself have 4 jills that i work but my friend will come out with his jills and a castrated hob. This hob just seems to be a dab hand at finding rabbits and if they dont go its a quick kill. i am happy to go ferreting and catch few and not dig. but digging to this hob almost doubles ourr bag most the time. the jills obviously dont shift these big stubbun rabbits but then im happy with that as i dont have to dig in those arkward places or hard going. i think i should get myself a castrated hob or two and see how it goes working them next season.. i was just wondering who only works hobs on
  13. Just wondering what the majority feed there dogs.. Who feeds raw flesh, bones and what is it? cheers
  14. only tend to forget the dark green nets, not got many of them, but always find them when double check over.. but obviously have lost couple and i must agree does look bad but sometimes just miss them.. think just going to get some bright spun poly or nylon.. as alot of my ferreting is not good for light nets and hemp isnt for me. cheers for all you help
  15. Decided i need to replace some purse nets and just generally get more. i have alot of 10z and few spun nylon (which are dark green and for ever loosing them) just wondering if someone can give me some feed back on spun nylon and spun poly.... or should i stick with 10z / 12z nylon nets.. looking at buying some from jbs. cheers, hope your all having a good season so far.

  23. Was looking at building either a ferret court or a new 4 tier hutch for the ferrets. But just bought a new t&g shed for £100.. so cant wait for it to arrive and design the inside for them. seemed like a much easier method and far quicker. will post some pics once all done regards
