  1. im not sure about the o/u or semi (im a gun snob), but im sure if you look around they doo a sort of camo/realtree tape or like a sock thing you pull over the barrels. others will be more informed than myself. But i suggest you get a 12bore, they have cheaper and wider range of cartridges and everywher stocks them. where as with 20bore it can be difficult getting hold of what you want.
  2. Dont insult the hair, i had long curly hair till about 2 weeks ago....(i feel bald now) but just a heads up its not all that practical.no pun intended. What i've done is just dont go advertising you shoot but be proud and dont deny it. its a tricky balance but you'll always get those tofu eater, and as i said who wants to associate with them.
  3. week before last i decided long hair isnt really practical and fancied a change, walked in the door wondering if my dog would reconise me...he recognised me even if i didnt looking in the mirror.
  4. nothing like regurgatated threads. fact is those bisley pest control aren't verry accurate, im kicking myself for buying aload at how much they cost.(i do bit of professional pest control) as its been said many many many times for most situation domed does the job. hearing that about the accupells i think this will be my last tin of them, those Air Arms i was put off by their rough feel to them (silly i know) do they benefit from a wash and lubing up?
  5. personally i would stick to the air rifle for lamping bunnies, just seem bit pointless unless using the silencer in conjunction. i have a feeling eley do subsonic if you still want a go.
  6. I just got some mahogany fronted ply and made a standard rectangle box and used the strap from an old game bag and also used the fastener from that as well....ooh and drilled a few air holes...ferrets seem to work better when they have air.
  7. Animal lovers my arse. did anyone else hear of those antis kidnapping a fox hound, the poor thing was scared as shit and dehydrated, needing to be kept under close watch of the hunt staff. and i've heard of a ger falcon being killed by an anti after it pinned a phesant. Double standards or what?!
  8. Bismuth is heavier than lead but i think some alloy it with tin but would only be bit lighter if any. i'll have a look for those remmy ones. cheers lads. on the 12 bore front having a look at AYA yeoman SBS Double trigger 28" with improved cylinder 1/4 choke. should be all systems go when i stop being "redundant" and get another job.
  9. I'll have a look out for them. i shot two foxes with Eley VIP bismuth no.5 (knowing they are heavier than lead) at about 10/15yrds and gave both vboth barrels to make sure. But not only are they really quite dear (only for ducks). I think no.4 will gove me just that lil bit more "umph" to do the job till i save up for a decent 12bore Side by side ( the only one to use in my opiion) Sorry guy its Cylinder & 1/4 (not 3/4) but still rifled slug is a bit much and shouldnt think you'd fit enough AAA or BB in a 20 with 2 3/4 chambers/.
  10. I wasnt after a rifled slug, someone suggested it but a bit much. i was thinking more along the lines of no.1 or no.3 shot. for time being im using a janky baikal 12 bore with AAA (which is more than enough)(the shot is my uncles who used to hold muntjack drives on his shoot back in the day) but i dont like O/U and always feels "not quite right"
  11. Would i be right in thinking that the rodenator (aka Spawn of satan) is that thing that pumps gas down tunnels then ignites it? If it is they should make it clear that it cant be used and surly it cant colapse biggish tunnels all that well.
  12. get him versectamised and keep him happy and you by keepin thos gills off heat.
  13. It did drop the rabbit but you want the energy to be transfered into what your shooting not for it to go through wasting energy. they are good at 30yrds but close they do the job but not well. the lighter stuff is those Accupells, fantastic pellet around 14gr (bisley magnums 21gr, bisley pest control 18gr), i find the accupells deform (releasing the energy) close and are accurate out to 50/60yrds if you can shoot that far.
  14. they arent to great at expanding either. i brought 3 boxes as i had a job clearing ferals, they work but for the price there are better cheaper stuff like RWS super hollow point or what ever they are called.
  15. proberly would but i believe you need a FAC for them and i dont fancy forking out that much time and cash finding and getting some.
  16. 10/15yrds is fairly close so proberly a hollow point, but for those longer shots use accupells. at close range i used to use bisley magnums (they hit real hard) but had one go through a rabbits chest so now use lighter stuff.
  17. i've been pondering getting some cartridges for foxes whilst out on a mooch.(i have a Baikal 12bore which i use on dedicated fox drives, but dont like shooting O/U single triggers at all). i've dropped the very occaisional fox with my twenty using standard 32gm no.5 but only at about 10/15yrds. my gun is choked clylinder and 3/4 so proberly wanting no. 3 or 4, so if anyone has heard of this sort and who make it much appriciated.
  18. i personally dont use oneand a few others dont on here, its really down personal preference and also if you ferret does kill often, if it does then i would suggest one or a ferret that doesnt kill. most people i know if their ferret does lay up and they dont use a locator either use a bramble branch to find out where it is in the small warrens or using a dog to mark where abouts. But as alot will agree it is best not have a ferret lay up in the first place.
  19. this comes to mind http://www.motleycrow.com/imagehost/retard.jpg
  20. I shoot a 20 and i can shoot anything the guys with the 12bores shoot and the sometime mop up the stuff they miss. (its an AYA boxlock SBS double trigger 28" barrels fitted it myself), its a fantastic calibre, i am looking for a 12 mind purley for cheaper and wider range of cartridges and also fox and geese ( although i've shot geese with my 20). Just wondering what you use in the way of cartridges??, personally i use : express special tewnty fibre 32g no.5 (they do everything) and Eley VIP bismuth no.5 for wildfowl.
  21. many thanks guys, just another point the dealer has another similar gun but with 1/2 and full choke, this would proberly bit heavy choked so can you have them changed to something bit more open.
  22. Would the 2" really make much difference. and would we be talking in pattern rather than range. also what choke would you recommend, i currently shoot cylinder, 1/4 in my twenty, and bring down my fair share.
  23. Im going to look at a SBS 12bore tomorrow with 1/4 & 3/4 choke. with 26" barrels. i was wondering if these days barrel length really matters to range, i do most of my shoot at a far distance, often around 35yrds +. i will be my new main gun moving up from a twenty so thats anything from woodcock to geese to the occaisionaly fox. would be much appreiated for any info im in bit of a rush to find out.
  24. get a Rifle like a .22lr or .17HMR will do both bunnies and foxes (foxes little bit closer with .22lr)
