My Aigle ISO's (I think) are still going well after 2yrs use for shooting, digging, working in woods etc. Got no splits/cracks, fully waterproof, proper comfy. Paid around £130 for them.

Mora Clipper for around a tenner. Come in different colours, so less chance of losing the bright orange if you put it down somewhere, and they come razor sharp, with a scandi grind that's dead easy to re-sharpen if needs be.

£1100 for something that looks like it's been hit with a spade & has a turd for a tail? Nah, cheers!

Hi gents, I've started work on the somewhat butchered XS78 I got during moxy's charity thread. It's been stripped, the internals polished until they gleam, the trigger shimmed and fettled, and it all now works a treat. The stock, however, is still a pig! This is the design I've now come up with. It's on laminated beech ply, which I'll be taking down on a bandsaw, then inletting with a mortising machine & router. Does anyone have any suggestions as to improvements? The cardboard cut-out I've done feels good, and I'm sure with enough sanding, the proper one will too. Chee

We moved back in Jan, after I got a job offer I couldn't turn down. We are only 30 miles from where I grew up, but it's a world away. Yes, it's hard tearing yourself away from what you know & are comfortable with, but that's life, and it'll pass. One thing I will say is about your mates; it takes me an hour to get back over, and don't expect your friends to be doing that on a regular basis, as they won't. However, you'll still stay in with your true friends, and make some new ones where you move to. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

I've got a Pintail smock (see profile pic), and as others say, great coat until you move. Advertised as highly breathable; is it, b*llocks! I complained to Ridgeline about it, and they just told me to unzip it to let it vent. Useless!

Tenbury? Good f*cking luck to them! I'm only 10mins away, shame I'm going to be acting disgracefully at a wedding next weekend, I'm all out of organic hand-knitted tofu...

Hi all, Just a heads-up... I'd seen a few signs up for these 'Animal Friendly Fairs' in Kinver heading to visit my parents, and while they could look rather nice with dog washes, food, home brew, various craft stalls etc. (if that stuff floats your boat), a little bit of FB research reveals they are being used as fundraisers for the local sabs/antis (and the food is f*cking vegan!) No ta!

Considering the restaurants & bars in the House of Commons are subsidised by the taxpayer at £6 million a year so MPs and Lords get cheap food & drink, I doubt they give a toss.

I worked at Asda to pay my way through college, and the amount that got chucked (and still does) is awful. The worst was over Christmas, when the shop used to be shut Christmas day & Boxing day. Anything that went out of date on Boxing day had to be chucked on Christmas eve, even though it was still fine. I spoke with the local homeless shelter about coming to collect what would be binned anyway so they could give folks a decent Christmas dinner, but when I spoke to the bosses they went mental & told me I'd be sacked and done for theft. I rang up head office & was told the same; p

Was on 40 rollups a day (blue Drum, mmmm) since I was 14, but knocked it on the head last January after 13yrs of dedication. I had to see a mate of mine the same age go down with lung cancer from smoking, and I didn't really fancy that, plus the missus nagged me for ages to stop. I cold turkeyed it, which was the hardest thing I've ever done. I didn't bother with patches, e-cigs or anything, just lots of normal wrigleys gum. I kept meself well away from people & went to do a job that let me stay in the woods and hit things with my axe for the first week, which helped. It wasn't easy fo

No worries, and that's bang on mate, cheers No rush, so feel free to PM me for postage details etc. when you're ready.

The SMK 15 .177 would be brilliant if it's still going. I help run the Shooting Club at my Scouts, but our guns are getting knackered now & we are struggling to replace them. Oh, and I'll take the XS78 too, I need a project PM me how much for P&P, and your suggested donation

Exactly what that man said. You try getting kids who misbehave in school to work at home when they won't even do it with you breathing down their necks. Most have chaotic home lives, with parents who don't care if they do the work or not as they've not got any desire to get off their work-shy arses and do some graft themselves, and don't see why their offspring should either. Illiterate parents who don't see why correct spelling, punctuation and grammar are important are also a right pain in the backside, as they don't/can't do the work with their kids from a young age that needs to be don

That's exactly it; some parents nowadays are just as ridiculous as the kids, and don't see it as a good thing to discipline them or make them behave at school. I was no angel, but if my parents had found out I'd been messing around, I'd be done for, so I behaved (mostly).

1 day in 'isolation', doing feck-all work, then back in to class with a piece of paper saying 'little Johnny won't be naughty again, honest', and the headteacher telling you to examine the reasons that could have pushed them to break a window (normally that they are a little twat). At least in my detentions I get them doing some work; this week, my naughty lot have been out weeding in the school grounds & sowing poppy seeds ready for the WW1 centenary. They loved doing that in the rain...

I love working with kids though mate, it's so rewarding, and essential work. It's just the 20% or so (in my school, at least) who don't give a toss & manage to cock it up for the rest, knowing there's sod-all you can do about it because we've got our hands tied. I'm a Scout leader too, and those kids there are a world away from the ones I teach, and are so well behaved, so I know it isn't all kids who are little swines.

I teach nowadays, after seeing the world in a few other jobs, and whilst I don't agree with what she did, I can see what would have driven her to do it. A lot of kids nowadays are lacking somewhat in respect, and I know that sounds like some old line every generation spins out, but it's true. They can't be quiet when told, won't do what they are asked to do, don't give a rat's ass about the fact that they are disrupting other decent kids who want to learn, and their parents see us as some sort of babysitter who should put up with the crap their little darlings come out with. I've seen pare

Looking for a canopy for a Mk1 L200, or similar size to bodge & fit. Single-cab, 190cm x 150cm load area.
-
I'm after a canopy for a 1991 Mitsubishi L200, the short wheelbase single-cab one. It doesn't have to be the exact one for it, but if it's around 190cmx160cm, and not too hard to modify, then it'd be sound. Cheers.

Nice one mate. The engine's fine on mine & runs lovely, but the bodywork needs a bit of attention. It'll be put on bigger wheels, suspension upgraded, resprayed as it looks shit at the moment, and a custom canopy made & fitted to the back so me and the mrs can use it as a sneaky campervan when we go off on our adventures. Oh, and I'll be taking the bullbars off the front too as I hate the damn things.

I'd have taken her on myself but it really wouldn't have been a good idea with my collie, she'd have stressed the poor girl too much & it wouldn't be good for her mental recovery. On the bright side, I am going to be picking up my new Cocker pup from there next week, as I fell in love with the sad looking little fella in his run today. Not the dog I intended on adopting, but I'm not complaining.
-
Went in to visit her today, and she's not doing great. Health-wise, I've been told she's getting a lot better and looks a bit better too, but mentally the poor girl is damaged. I didn't even manage to get a photo as she spent pretty much the whole time I was there cowering & whining in the bedroom bit in the back of her run & wouldn't come out. She needs someone with experience to take her on and give her a lot of 1-on-1 care & time to help bring her back to normal, which I'm not experienced enough to do with her. She's at City Dogs Home in Stoke, and they are looking for someo

Just a quick update on her; I've spoken to the rescue centre & she's doing fine. Eating loads and getting much better. I'll be going over later this week to see her and take some bedding and food to donate to the centre. Also, I've decided her name is 'Bean', as my missus got thoroughly confused as to what breed a 'Heinz 57' was when the vet said it. "Ooh, I've never heard of one of those!" Cheers, Andy
