Yep all very true, its a mis conception thats its easy money for nothing, Pest controllers have to adhere to so many regulations in an ever changing industry, we basically go around doing are profession with a target on our back and i can see why chalkwarren has had enough of all the restrictions and regulations that comes with the job, not to mention the piles of paperwork that come with it Hope things are good Matt speak soon

That picture Chalky is making me itch

Trapperman, I take it you have done the courses you need to do before using and buying pesticides? All this should of been explained and taught and you should of been tested before you got a certificate

thats an idea. i`ve got some alphamax 1ltr soluble sachets and there pretty good, how residual are these water soluble type chemicals? The effectiveness over time is dependent on a whole range of exposure to physical and environmental factors, ie the type of surface it is applied to, heat, sun, rain, abrasion etc. Most Pesties have their favourites that they rely on from habit and their perceived successes, where in certain situations a different formulation would be better they still persist in the reliable 'old freind' Breaking down sachets is opening yourself up to problems both

Very when you consider that it can cost around £400,000 to get the label approved and a couple of million for approval to use
-
Why dont you just open a sachet, and mix up what you need and keep the un-used powder in the satchet and keep it in a suitable container I am having good results with deltamax and it comes in 1 ltre amounts, and its cheeper

MOLEYS VID
-
You should only mix what you are going to use at the time of application, its not a good idea to leave it in your applicator due to it being released accidentally.

Rights of the RSPCA to free snared foxes

interfearing with a legally set snare comes under the theft act 1954 , its called "tresspass of goods" as i understand it But if the snare wasnt removed it wouldnt be......I dont hink... But, top and bottom. Dont snare where people are likely to find your catch., Its only going to end up in the papers or something.... I think them lads were lucky the builders didnt ring the local rag and had them waiting for them with cameras when they came to despatch their catch.Front page news for sure.........All hunters in the UK countryside these days have got to be careful... I got -

Born Hunter, if collecting b jobs of old pensioners with flea problems is your thing then yes....... you dirty Bugger On a serious note, I have a job on a small holding with rats and mice, and the property is a timber framed wooden building, I am getting very good results although on yesterdays visit, a dead mouse with its legs chewed off was half hanging out of the ceiling, above the main bedroom, it had obviously been eaten by the rats and got lodged there above the marital bed there was a polythene sheet hanging above the ceiling, the lady of the house was not prepared to spend -
question for you pestcontrolers
RatSnatcher replied to rickardo's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Unless you have quite a lot of spare cash or money to invest £8,000 plus, then I would not bother, on top of this I find I am also having to provide these services..... 1, Councilling, due to distress from pests in the home 2. Government speaker due to relaying the various regulations.. 3. Speaker from the national virus register, informing on the many viruses available from various critters. 4. Pesticide company representitive informing on the safety of product to be used. 5. Marriage councillor, after the hubby has let the problem get out of hand, and doesn't want to pay -
Rights of the RSPCA to free snared foxes
RatSnatcher replied to Holdaway's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I remember an interesting thread on here a while ago about a trashing of a larsens trap on private land, I am sure that the RSPCA are not allowed to interfere with pest control for the protection of game etc, but hey they seem to think they are the 4th emergency service or at least think they are But I guess if it was in public veiw then it would be a little difficult to just leave it there, especially if the builders were veiwing from a scaffold and were not sure of the law themselves and were asking for it to be released -

I am having a good result with Lard or animal fat, I havnt got round to doing my fenns and body grips, but I have a job where I trap with victor pros on a farm, after having the traps out over the winter the Pro's were starting to rust and the wooden base was slightly warping, rather than use a preserver of any kind I got me hands on a 1lb of lard and dipped them in that for rats. I don't particuly like the idea of using petroleum based chemicals like speed dip, but the american trappers use it to good efect, Perhaps chalkwarren or snareman would care to answer if they found that targ
