  1. Same here, and we'd also walk the banks with our Dogs catching loads of them, but nobody batted an eyelid back then because they were so common, and not protected by law. There's now none on any of the becks where I grew up, though there's still a decent number on the becks in the urban areas.
  2. That's right millet, I remember them being very common, but unfortunately that's not the case now. Going by your location, I snapped that one not that far from you.
  3. Some of our less common Mammals can turn up in some funny places! A good photo opportunity all the same.
  4. Well it might've been a hosepipe but for the ban .
  5. She is ace off the lead , was really happy with her yesterday when a jack russell came up to her, she just ignored it its pretty amazing how mellow she is now compared to when I got her , she still hates cats & tree rats though A Dog after my own heart . Lovely shots again kay.
  6. New evidence has just emerged on the mystery death. Police have just revealed that this note was found at the scene........
  7. And the winner is..........................................
  8. A lot of years ago there was a white Pigeon among a large flock, near where I lived. Lots of people saw it (it did stick out like a sore thumb among the others) and It stayed around all winter then disappeared. Going by size, shape and how it flew, it certainly seemed to be a Woodie, and definitely wasn't a feral or Dove. aye and if they stick oot like a sore thumb they tend to become a target You're dead right, and these were moving around between rape fields, and although I never heard of anyone shooting it, it could've been, or fallen prey to a BOP........................... or it
  9. There doesn't seem to be any visible puncture wounds on the neck so I reckon there's a simple explanation to this one.......... After all the recent rain the ground was very slippery and being young and inexperienced, it just lost control on a bend and was catapulted into the stone wall, breaking it's neck instantly (and ripping off half its tail )

  12. traps are being set heritage , and it looks like the lunatic is taking the bait Very sensible words there from heritage . You though 'mickey' are about as funny as cancer, and not unlike a Midge - Very insignificant but extremely irritating, so please do yourself a favour and just shut up. And to certain other professionals who've 'contributed' lots to this thread, your services must really be in big demand judging by the fact you're on here almost 24/7 ...... I'm keeping to what I said about having no more input on the legalities, as actual fact and outcomes will speak for them
  13. Your wasting your breath Axe me old mate........I have already pointed this out to the pen pushing barrack room lawyer.........but he knows best....! I'll have a bet, a pound to a pinch of shit, he wouldn't know a the difference between a Fenn trap and a mouse trap, and has never set either. He can show me no legislation that says a cage trap has to be inspected daily or even when shown the law regarding the inspection of spring traps.......he still denies it. Be very wary of people that cannot back up there claims with hard facts.......And he gets paid for his advice.....ffs...lol..! E

  16. Thanks for the comments. Love the captions
  17. I don't 'profess' to offer expert advice, but I am paid to give it and to ensure that it's followed (I can't help but smile at your mention of the above agencies!). One of the first things I learned when starting out in the legal side of these things was that law in writing and in actual practice can differ somewhat, hence my attempts to put things as clearly as possible, and explain how they would/should fit into practical situations. It's up to you and anyone else, to interpret things and judge me how you wish, but I can leave this topic exactly as I started, which is safe in the kno
  18. Not a brilliant photo I know, but would probably make a good 'what's the caption'!
  19. Should've been a sign showing a tunnel being constructed on a CNC machining centre.............. 'cos we now all know that unless the tunnel dimensions are absolutely spot on you'll catch feck all Anyone can catch various creatures in Fenn traps, its just that some people who pay a bit more attention to detail will kill them while they are doing it. Do I take it that you may be starting to pay a bit more attention then? not to you mate. Thank f**k for that................................................................ Mate .
  20. Yes, and this includes Fenns. All live catch traps must by law be inspected once within each 24 hour period, not once a day or daily, as is often quoted (checking 'once a day' could easily mean the law is being broken). This includes Larsen traps. Failure to do so could also land the offender on one or more charges under the many animal welfare laws. It's refreshing to see a couple of posts relating to common sense and ethics. If only the people making the laws could use a bit of common sense and put things in plain English it'd be a simpler world. Fenns being on the spring trap
