  1. Nice one, bet that gave you a weak knees feeling that a day on the beach doesn't!
  2. Well done and a pleasure to read! I've often wondered how my success would change if I didn't get out before first light. It is great usually, but sometimes a long week makes it very difficult, especially over the next few months...
  3. Nice one, enjoyed the write-up. How did you find the cubs? Just nose around nearby likely-looking areas?
  4. At this rate it'll get poached before the auction ends! At least it would bring an end to the whole silly episode.
  5. Thanks for the write-up - sounds like you got a lot of stalking packing into one outing. What mod do you have on your rifle? Looks like quite a long overall package - but it's obviously doing the job fine. Cheers G
  6. Nice deer cull. A good example of population management in a short time frame. Can you tell us a bit more about how the deer were 'driven' to the guns. I imagine the older does would be a lot more shifty once they clocked what was happening.
  7. Say hi to Laurie and Wilson for me.
  8. A nice spot but you'll have to be ready if they are moving quickly as it is quite a narrow ride.
  9. Good to hear the good news mate - you have certainly done well to score that deer magnet. Stay in touch, we still have to do our day out - though I must admit they are a bit thin on the ground at the moment! Cheers Gabriel
  10. I agree 100%, my next trip is in January and I can't wait. Who did you go with, I'm with Tomo Svetic/Artemis Hunting.
  11. Nice one, can you tell us what your setup is and what is different for you to be so consistent with these long shots?
  12. If you are shooting in England, the smallest legal caliber for roe is the .243.
  13. Why are some deer blind in one eye in your area?
  14. Hi fellas Can anyone recommend a good pigeon guide in Hampshire/Wiltshire....though anywhere near London would be fine? I am just looking to try it for the first time, so somewhere reasonably priced would be great. Cheers Gabriel
  15. Damn those must be some minted stalkers!!
  16. Hi fellas Do you know how many stalkers there are in Ireland roughly? I only ask because I have been over a few times and the few guys I met were all getting lots of numbers with quite a lot of land, unlike here in England.
  17. Nice going mate, can I ask how the deer reacted on impact with the shot being placed that far back? Did it range forward into the chest cavity or just go straight through? Cheers Gabriel
  18. Do you know why the season was shortened? Just as many deer as before, from what I can see! Is it to encourage lads to take does?
  19. Nice animal! Do you have to get very far from the trails to find good deer hunting, or is it still widespread?
  20. Yikes Lord Buckland, How did you get all those calibers past your local bobby? Most get so bloody nervous after 3-4 rifles it is funny! In my opinion, far more important than the caliber/bullet is the fit and feel of the gun. If it takes 20 seconds to get set up and find a clear sight picture, the best caliber won't be of any use...
  21. As strange as it sounds, some fellas are pleased as the new rule still allows them to have two 'big' guns. A 222/223/22-250 + a 243 for the roe.
  22. What a beauty! I am guessing it was old age that did it He will have an inch of fat over his kidneys and taste great. Lucky you found him before the rut...
  23. Hi guys, I'm moving down to London in Sept and would like to join a stalking syndicate. I have the DSC1, fully insured etc. Please let me know if you hear of anything going.... Cheers, Gabriel
  24. Too many to keep them all unfortunately.... These are all in v good condition. 25. I would vehemently oppose any attempts at putting conditions on your FAC. This is something the police just invented to make life difficult. If you have previous firearms experience (shotguns?) that should be underlined in a covering letter to your application. Calibre - any legal deer round should be fine for roe and munties, but the .243 is one of the most popular rounds in the UK and the ammo is cheaper than most. Best of luck!
