I have read about zeroing nv scopes through the pin hole in daylight causing a different poi with the cap removed at night so I would say it's the norm and nothing to worry about

Im begining to think I should start buying leupold????
-
Personally I'll never be without a blitz it's got the perfect beam for my needs. They are not exactly difficult to rewire and once they are done they last well enough, as long as you don't use a cigarette lighter type joint.
-
That sounds a great service from leupold, it's nice to get customer satisfaction. I ordered a bino pack from the USA the chap that designed it said "I'll send one out to you, once you've tried it and if you like it just send me the money " I was astounded. I recieved the pack for my range finder binos checked they fitted and sent payment right away. It's a pity more in the UK wouldn't send out items to try before you buy but I suppose they'ed never get payed.I've always been dubious about ordering from abroad but I wouldn't hesitate now. What a rip off by UPS by the way!

Agree with these ^^^^^^^ just pick ya filament
-
I prefer the vertical filament and set the bulb for the tightest dot possible for throwing the most penetrative light out for the longer shots but yes its down to personal preference, some like more spread to light up more to lamp quicker.
-
If you'd bought it new there would be a spare bulb in the handle, well there always used to be. When you do put the new bulb in make sure the beam is centralised before you even go lamping. Just shine the lamp at the floor and look at the circle of light you'll see a brighter ring somwhere inside it. You first need to decide how tight you want the dot by pulling the bulb out from the housing to the desireable setting and then make sure the dot is centralised again. The bulb doesn't get pushed all the way in it's out a couple of mm. Pity I didn't read this earlier or I could have told you to loo

Just incase your still looking, or anyone else have a look at this on the bay...260780452374 It's not mine but it does look and sound familiar..................????

Hi mate bought the one with the switch on the lamp. I only ask as I've returned a torch and the supplier sais deben are out of stock so I won't get mine for a bit so I'll have to stick to my catapult and NV at the moment. I thought I'd prefer one on the lamp then if it really didn't work I could get one in line at a later date but it sounds like it'll work nicely Catapult and night vision, ? f**k me , you must be good. Brilliant!!! I haven't laughed so much for a while!!! I forgot it was another thread I'd been on about the catapult it's an led torch, mind you it's wel

Glad you are happy with it! Did you buy the lamp with the variable switch on the lamp or on an added wire?

hornady..204 Great! I was considering reloading for my .204 as it doesn't like the 40gr's so was thinking of trying the 39gr's reloaded. It loves the 32gr's factory and it's dropped every fox instantly but a few have said the 32gr's lack stopping power hence my consideration of reloading. I hope this thread gets the answer of 'it shouldn't happen to factory ammo' because I'd rather the fox get injured than myself
-
In a word NO, you haven't dropped any bollock! Lighforce lamps get a bad rep for their wiring but I've owned a 140,170 and two blitz. Yes I had to change switches and rewire them but it's TWO wires, wheres the problem? I don't think any of them went within a year but I can't remember. They have the best tightest beam IMO. I use a Blitz if I've got a lampman, my 140 wasn't quite bright enough and the 170 was hand held which I sold and got another Blitz. There's not a lot in it but the blitz suited my shooting better having the tightest beam. I've been buying led torches and yes they are great w

Do a search, there was a thread a week or two ago about these. Perhaps you could ask one of the chaps that actually purchased them how they are getting on with theirs. Basically I think they worked well out to about 150yrds.
-
Is the 250 lumen beam bright enough on the master light? How do you get on with the different light settings do you ever press the wrong setting? Does the switch need to click before it switches on or will it come on with gentle pressure? That was the one thing I didn't like on the tactical 900 you had to click the switch on the rear of the torch for the different brightnesses but Im not sure how the pressure switch worked, I assumed it was just off and on.
-
I bought a tactical 900 of ebay £119 that's battery, mount, charger, pressure switch and torch everything you need. It had a nice tight dot and was claimed to shine 350yrds with 250 shooting distance. On clean ground I would say you'd get to 200yrds with it but I returned it without mounting it on the gun as it wasn't quite bright enough for my requirements and ordered a lightforce 170 instead but that needs a battery pack. I do have a Thrunite Catapult3 which is a great torch for me as I just use it for scanning and then use nv to shoot. It does light up a wide area but also has a tight dot i

It all depends if you are prepared to carry a battery??? Then you can decide on the best scope mounted lamp. Also does the size matter? Is the gun on your back a lot and you are walking a long way? You may want a torch with it's own battery supply as there are torches that will reach 200yrds but if you want more you need to think of carrying a battery.

Point taken. I just looked and the 10x are 50g lighter than the 8x, excellent! Im on swarovski scopes to so sounds like these leicas are the ones for me to and they come with a range finder . Cheers danw
-
Cheers danw, so my next question is, would 8x42 leica binos let in more light at dusk than the 10x42's? Im not sure what mag to go for.
-
I done the same and the only way was HOLD TIGHT AND TURN! I was lucky my crown was still in tact, so the sooner you get it off the better. It's easier to have two people, one to hold one to twist.
-
Has anyone had any experience with a swarovski range finder? Are they any good to use for spotting? As they are less than half the price of range finder binoculars with the better glass I was considering these as the next best thing. They are a lot lighter than the binos so would be better for me on foot, but I wouldn't want to buy them then find out they were useless at last light or not up to the mark for scanning. Any opinions???

At the time I just thought it may be better not to show the full extent of the damage. I also turn the foxes on to the least side of damage as we all know what cf rifles are capable of doing. All I like to see is a DEAD fox!

I've seen a lot of colour variations the last few years heres a pic from a month or so ago.

Sounds stupid but what size bipod is it and have you tried shooting on it's shortest setting? Better still have you tried shooting off a sandbag so you can wedge the rifle solid?
