  1. Just get out there and do it Max! We've had half the days out so far tipping it down. I know it makes a mess of the rabbits, you get filthy digging plus wet and cold, But even getting a morning out is better than waiting for a good day which never seems to happen this season!
  2. You're in for a EXTREME shock next time fella, we're going reet up to the top of that woodland to see what's about, no MESSING and I'm not carrying the rabbits again, will just take the DRAGGING FERRETS and they can get them back to the van themselves You are a good digger though, i'm going to take my bucket and spade the next time to build sandcastles Oh my word! Not having that, two digs in one season! You need a decent spade, the holes dig themselves then!
  3. Awesome bag! Richie took the words right out of my mouth with the bikini birds ferreting!
  4. Glad you got them back! I seem to got my act together remembering to lock them up nowadays, i went through a phase years ago when i was always leaving the catches off the cages, luckily i always got them back.
  5. Nice one. Is it the first trip out Salmon?
  6. has not set their status

  7. This was talked about a few weeks ago WB. Search back a few pages or use the search facility.
  8. A good sized hob takes no nonsense, and does not get dragged around the warren as easy as a jill. If you dont mind digging, a hob can be a great tool in the right place. Getting a lie up with a decent hob is not usually a longwinded affair, most are on there way after a kill. Sometimes the jills can spend a long time finishing the job if they cannot get to the head end of a bunny. All size and sexes of ferrets have there place. Knowing where to use them gives you easiest option.
  9. Nice work once again Mag. Takes some effort getting the snaps on your own, especially the quality you take.
  10. Out today with the runners, heavy mist and rain. (But ok after seeing the forecast.) Started a 7 foot dig, but luckily broke through to a rock chamber at 5 ft and got the jill back. (Should know better, dug the same one last year and it gave 4ft into a chamber. Lost my bearings in the mist!) Did well, and the dogs are starting to impress. Got a few. Out tommorrow.
  11. If you want to get them going and find out which are the promising ones, first make sure there are bunnies at home, find a small warren,(Only a few holes) block the holes instead of leaving them open or netted, and throw a couple in. The sooner they engage with a live rabbit, the sooner they switch on. Hardly ever seeing a rabbit, or the tail end of one swiftly on its way, is going to take ages before they get dialled in. And many trips.
  12. Good show once again. clinical clearance.
  13. Think i need to work on your blade yet!
  14. Sweet! Thats an awful shiny spade! Andy are your arms tired you Extreme Hunter! Nice one fellers, keep up the bloody good work!
  15. Nothing major. Hopefully we will have enough until xmas though.
  16. No killer hob in this warren Tyla, I know the ground well. Tried playin safe with a jill, but sometimes things just dont work out, or the jills get too good.
  17. Old fellers the one sometimes grabbing my ankles mate! Dont know how the holes end up like that, they just do! On a more serious note, do you need someone to run Col out occasionally?
  18. Just another day out, but this time took the old russel as the old one was judging at another bird show. (really needs to get his priorities sorted!) Got sidetracked to start with, setting a few traps. On the first mark with the terrier, ended up with a 3 foot dig, then a 4 footer, and then a bleeding 5 footer. Did not get the kill from the 5 footer, this is the first kill left this year, I really hate leaving a body in, but I could not reach it whilst head and shoulders down the hole on my own, (and i did not want to join it!) Managed to coax the ferret out on a rabb
  19. Not today, just hit some of the easy bits the truck can get to. The quad is for the days at the far reaches, that the 4x4 cannot get to like you said, its shanks pony from there. Its only really to keep the old kid going more than anything, the quad is good, but more hassle than its worth sometimes. On foot tmoz, travelling light, stubborn 17" 10yr old russel, and a box of ferrets and a bag of nets.
  20. Well the ferrets do drag them away from where i've dug to! So they could be! Being a messer is half the fun Whin!
  21. Nah i'm just a messer mate! But i do get out and mess about a bit!
