With all due respect bud, its the un-authorised off-roading, poaching other peoples land and you own anti-social behaviour to these people that gives the rest of us a bad name. I am not your "bud", my offroading is not unauthorised and is perfectly legal as i stick to byways open to all traffic, i would hardly poach my own land and if you feel that my behaviour may influence the way that other people may think of you then you can kiss my a...! I make no apologies for what i do and the last thing i would ever do would be to try to appease anybody least of all bunny hugging ramblers

Brilliant! i use my 4x4 off road as an excuse to find more land to poach and recce the layout, fences etc. Im often met by scowls and muttered comments by tossers like this.A few weeks ago on salisbury plain i passed a small group that had been caught in the rain, they were standing on the verge between a fence and a rather large puddle, oops! i bet they enjoyed the wash really, gave them something else to moan about. My boy has pics on his phone,i will see if he can put them on.

Thats why i asked on here first,my experience of ferrets at the vets is empty pockets and dead ferret. Ive moved her to a hutch and am monitoring her food, she dont eat much, see what shes like in a week then pts i think. thanks for all your advice steve

Try caninekennels.co.uk Mine were cheap and the customer service and delivery was brilliant.

I had a pair years ago and found them bloody uncomfortable after a few weeks difficult to keep on your feet and on a muddy site always losing them in the s..t. I was gutted as in those days i was even more skint than i am now and once bought they had to do till they were worn out. For lamping i use a pair of wellies or goretex lined walking boots.

I use nfu mutual mate, they are always available to speak to and when i smashed my last van up they coughed up within a fortnight £3300 for an old motor i got at auction for £1600. I was well chuffed, ive had cheaper quotes for my pajero but i think the extra couple of quid is worth paying. Tesco was the cheapest though.

Mine all live together in a 5x10 court half wired on one side, there are plenty of places to get out of the weather and the other three are all ok,ill see how it goes i was tempted to PTS but i really dont want to lose this particular jill as i was going to breed from her in the spring. She is the smallest ferret i have ever seen and maybe there is something wrong with her that has been there all along although she is well over a year old and has always been healthy I have never tried any of the ferret vite/tonics that are available and i wonder if it might help, has anyone used it before?
-
One of my ferrets,a year old jill has lost weight recently, she seems lethargic and doesnt want to play with the others. I cant see anything wrong with her, teeth, runs etc and she eats ok its just getting very thin.I lost an old jill year before last and she gradually went downhill like this one. I have three other ferrets and they all live together and none of them are unwell.I feed rabbit, chicken etc and this is frozen for a few weeks prior to feeding as i worry about worms. Any ideas?

Went out last night for a couple of hours,my bitch is bed/whipxbed/grey 16 mths and was catching well but ive had a few weeks off (me dads not well) anyway we only had four runs and she missed em all. Be back out tonight though. steve

I have been offered a bed/whippet bitch, the lady just wants to see it in a nice home. The history is unknown as apparently her daughter picked it up as a stray, she does not know the age but thinks it is young. She saw me with my bitch and asked what sort of a dog was it and would i be interested in another. She was horrified when i asked what it was like on rabbits. Anyway ive got a phone number and if anyone is interested pm me,its in southampton.

Got mine from cluson in petersfield,i believe they make them. I got a "graded" one for half the price of those advertised in th CMW. £60 quid for a lazerlite clubman deluxe that comprises of a 7amp battery pack,a charger and a lazerlite with a red pop in filter. I dont know thier tel no but their website is www.cluson.co.uk. worth a look.

it will end up a problem if you r slipping the dog on rabbits you know she wont catch as for the deer why did you walk so close to it if you didnt intend to slip this just make dogs frustrated if the dog is young then try and make sure you slip it on ones well out especially clamp ones slipping on impossible runs usually makes the dog if young and inexperienced hunt on in the dark where injuries can occur it will end up a problem if you r slipping the dog on rabbits you know she wont catch as for the deer why did you walk so close to it if you didnt intend to slip this just make do

Out last night and just as i got to the land the weather cleared and out came the moon,i thought i would have a look anyway. As i expected i struggled to get a run for this bitch,i was looking for easy ones as she is quite green, she missed one that i shouldnt have slipped her on and was slow to return, she is normally straight back. On we went to the next field and walked right up to a roebuck, less than 10 metres away before he ran,i didnt slip the bitch as she is young and also its illegal, she nearly pulled my arm out of its socket trying to get free and as the deer got further away she barke

After a lousy first season last year my bitch seems to have got her eye in at last, catching three rabbits out of four runs in half an hour last night. The only thing is i am so used to not catching anything i had nothing to carry them in. I saw an easy bunny out in the field sitting so i put the three we had down in the grass while we walked up to it, that was the one she missed. I spent the next hour looking for my precious rabbits in the pouring rain but could not find them, when i got home i felt like the fisherman telling of the one that got away. i wont make that mistake again.

My new kit has brown greasy muck coming from its ears,so much as to get woodshavings stuck to them. I got it from a bloke that i used to go ferreting with and it was alive with fleas when i picked it up. ive frontlined it as i do my other ferrets and the flea problems gone but still dirty ears, could this be ear mites and if so what do i do?can i use the stuff that ive used on dogs ear mites or is it a trip to the vets?

I find that ferreting permission is most easily got, without a dog at first, then bring the dog when you have got to know the farmer and show him that its stock steady. After a bit ask him about running the dog at night. it has worked for me. Farmers are usually a cagey lot and take some convincing, think about it would you let someone you dont know wander around your property at night unsupervised killing things ?
