  1. I've seen a few posts about Mk1 locators not working properly but have'nt seen an answer to the problem. I have two Mk1's and they are both very tempremental, the 8ft locator's never been right since i bought it and the 16ft one was working fine two weeks ago when out ferreting but i've tried them this morning and no noise at all from the 8ft and the 16ft just blasts out a loud noise as soon as you turn the wheel. Does anyone know anything about them or has had the same problem? And does anyone know how much Deban charge to service them? Could anyone local to me (Sunderland ) have a look at t
  2. What area are you in mate? could be interested in your rifle, cheers.
  3. I may as well jump on the wagon with you mate, after asking all around my area for permission for ferreting (or shooting) and just getting knocked back all the time it would be great if anyone had a bit permission in the north east that they could'nt get to over the holidays, (especially if the landowner is getting onto them), that i could do on the odd day, i'd be more than happy to help out. Still your permission, just keeps the farmer happy and everyone is happy. Cheers, Liam..
  4. Still taste nice tho , as long as you can take your mind of eating some thing thats had a diesease for 5 mins, .
  5. When they have got to that point Liam, they are over the disease, and have put weight back on. It should be fine for your gramps to eat. If your grandads ok on Friday, then you should have rabbit casserole on Satarday. Thanks for the peice of mind lads, i will be able to sleep now nowing this. Think i will see how he gets on before i have any .
  6. Thanks for the replies lads. I cant remember seeing many fleas on them. And they also seemed pretty plump and the three i have skinned seemed to have abit meat on( hope i find out if they o.k. to eat pretty soon as me grandad is having one for he's tea tomoorow  ) Cheers, Liam..
  7. Out lastnight with Paul (HUNTER69) and we got 7 rabbits between us on a new permission acquired by Paul. But 3 of them were slightly balding around one eye. There were no lumps or bumps but just looked like the rabbit had been scratching for some reason. Dont know if the picture will be very clear but i'll put it up anyway. Does antone know what this is? Is it o.k. to feed our ferrets with them? And would they be o.k. for the pan? Cheers, Liam....
  8. Thanks for the replies, i can stop feeling guilty about getting the mesh run now then.
  9. Just wondering if my ferrets had anything to do with the death of next doors rabbit which sadly passed away last week. They have never been in their garden but would the stress of the rabbit knowing they were only on the other side of the fence kill it. It has been cold recently but she reckons it has been fine during any other winter. I managed to blag the mesh court/run which is only a few months old for my ferrets so i'm not complaining, just wondering if anyone had experienced this in the past, cheers, Liam....
  10. Thanks lads. Out been out twice since getting my ferrets 4 weeks ago and only had one on each occation but cant wait for the next day out. had a good day out only getting one so getting a few or more must be great.
  11. Thought i'd post a few pics of mine and pauls(hunter69) 2nd time out with my two young hobs and he's two jills. My little poley bolted one into the purse net within two mins of entering the first hole and pauls jill bolted one witch came from a hole i never netted . We had about 60 yards of longnet out hoping christening them not to no avail. We packed up and moved to another set where paul started digging when he's jill did'nt come up for over half an hour. Only one rabbit for the pan but still a great day out. A poor day out ferreting is better than a good day at work.
  12. Just had my two hobs out for the first time today with another couple of good working ferrets and they seemed to do alright, might of been a diferent story if we did'nt have the older more wiser ferrets with us but you could tell they had it in them as they got stuck in. If you could go out with someone who has proven working ferrets yours should pick it up no problem.Big thankyou to scrutchy and he's dad for a really good day out, must do it again soon, cheers, Liam....
  13. Going out on sunday with the ferts and i'll give it a try out in the open, but if it's still the same i'll let you know and we can sort something out mate.
  14. I bought two off ebay a few weeks ago (8 foot and 15 foot) and when i tried them they were going berserk. I took them out side and the 15 foot locator seemed fine but the 8 footer would only pick the collar up within 6 inches of it. As soon as i turned the dial past 2 foot it just went loud and did'nt sound right. I sold it to a lad a few days later who thought he knew what was wrong( said it was the batteries). Within 3 hours he was on the phone saying it was knackered, even with new batteries in so i give him his money back and am stuck with a faulty locator. If you get it sorted could you l
  15. I use the Rapid 7 mk1 and think it's the best air rifle i ever used. Also got the air arms s310.
  16. Although i am looking for permission of my own i would'nt dream of sneaking about behind anybodies back and working their land. I appreciate all the responces i have had to go out with a few of the lads and hope that they dont think that i would take the P?£S. Cheers, Liam....
  17. I will definatly take you up on your offer mate if it's ok with you. I would like to thank the other lads who have offered me a day out aswell. I'll be in touch soon and we sort a day out, Cheers, liam....
  18. Same again mate, thanks very much but a little to far to travel. I actually pass Glasgow now and again as i go fishing in Oban a few times a year but never stop off i'm afraid. Cheers, liam....
  19. Your a little bit out the way mate but thanks all the same. I did get a responce from a lad here in the north east who is willing to take me out and i should be meeting up with him next week to try and organise a day out, so thanks to him and thank you for your offer. Cheers, Liam....
  20. I am looking for someone to learn a novice a thing or two about the art of ferreting anywhere in the north east. I live in Sunderland but i am willing to travel and i could pick you up and dont mind doing the driving. I do abit shooting but have decided to get myself some ferrets but dont have any permission yet, i have two hobs about 6 months old and would like to try and get them working asap. I have a dozen or so nets and should be getting some more next weekend. I am a keen and quick learner and any help will be really appreciated, cheers lads. Liam....
  21. So you say i've got nithing to worry about? Cheers, They would probably do me a favour if they did get at them, they always out talking to the rabbits as if they were new born babys.
  22. Got my hutch and a run sorted, just waiting to recieve my ferrets, when a mate said the ferrets might get used to the smell of the rabbits and might not want to work. The rabbits are directly on the other side of the fence. Has anyone had the same problem or will it be o.k? cheers..
