  6. If you have tried for years, you must really want one,if i really wanted something i would pay the price, this is the same problem that keeps cropping up,there has been a set price paid for borders for years,so why should the man who has worked even harder to keep a working line going sell his cheaper, than those who keep them as pets, surely he is entitled to the same money some people just dont get it and never will ....funny how its a alaunt owner that wrote that

  12. Keano that was a wind up that I would want to use your dog as stud and like a lot of wind ups that s directed at you it just goes right over your head I have access to some true proper working terriers and lurchers owned and worked by honest lads with high standards up and down the country if I wanted ... Catcher you know nothing about how I treaat or train my dogs but I can assure you and others will tell you my dogs want for nothing but I will stand by what I say that some dogs just dont have it no matter how much time you put into it and breeding average dogs goes agaianst everything I
  13. Keano just answer the question and maybe the other of the 3 amigos that share the same views as you . Would you breed 2 average terriers or lurchers and with the correct training and entering expect to produce decent grafters???????????????????
  14. Hes not going to the party ...wanky and fatty are still heading north and you can talk borders all night with Scottie too hottie

    golly

I was one of the lads that responded to Nicolas thread offering out the dog to stud and did not see the other posts as the thread was removed but not once did I slag the dog on the contrary I have heard he is decent at what he does .....Nicola was putting Golly up for stud with no mention of tested bitches and IMO the if you were to buy a dog out of Golly at the moment or any other decent dog for that matter it might mean something and you have a good chance of getting a decent pup but if the dog is put out to any b£tch .... as what was advertised in the thread then the phrase "out of Gol

  19. hi moo would you rate your own dogs in the top 5% or the 95% second grade I have an 8 year old bitch deerhound cross out of good stuff that in her day done it all that I would class as at the very top of her game when she was younger and there have been plenty of lads up and down the country that saw this bitch graft (a few on this site ) she put the amount of gear in the bag that and done it in a way that justified breeding off her . I have a 3 year old dog out of her whos sire has dogs like Scout ,Blondie ,Dancer in his make up and once again was a proper dog ....this dog has the potentia
  20. There is now doubt entering has a lot to do with it but a well bred dog will take to its task in hand with ease ...but im not going to try and say all well bred dogs will make the grade or the grade I strive for ...but a higher percentage will than from the breeding of average dogs . You cant get stamina of a 5 out of 5 hare dog through entering and training you can get an good dog as fit as possible but to achieve the wind of the type of dog mentioned is down to 100% breeding . You cant train a dog whether its a lurcher, strong dog or digging dog to be game once again you get true gamness
  21. You and catcher keep banging on about entering dogs properly and any dog will make the grade if entered properly ....thats complete shite you pair are starting to sound like that other haver Brian Plummer I remember reading an article he wrote years ago saying he could get any dog to go to ground and work fox and he reconed he could get a king charles spaniel to enter to fox and be dug to .....There is no dennying entering has a large part to play at the start of a dogs carreer but a well bred dog will normally enter with ease its just a case of not over matching it and im a great believer
