  8. Good luck with the sale, nice looking pups.
  9. i wouldnt use a pointer if your going to be in a beating line. they range too far, there bred for open grouse moors and best suited to walk and shoot/rough shooting. a spaniel is your best bet for what you want, can hunt, flush and retrieve, the best allrounder. a lab can work well in a beating line but their not as good as a spaniel in cover. if your mainly interested in picking up then get a Lab 'wrong mate... theres a big difference between a pointer/setter and a hpr the gwp's and vizslas are a more versatile breed theyre bred to range closer and work tighter they cover more groun

  12. Right we will just hide and avoid the media and the public lets await a total ban on hunting with dogs, no exemptions. nice one!
  13. The only way to get a better public perception about lamping is to use the media, like it or not. its a gamble but looking at the last article theres nothing to lose. A lot of people that think they can hide their sport and somehow its going to be accepted? thats what happened with foxhunting! too many people saw the one sided view put across due to anti's bombarding the media with stories, there were very few who invited the press hunting. the public will not take sides with a hostile secretive sport! whoever is going to do this has to be very carefull and do everything within
  14. Cheers matey i think the working type springer is a far better/healthier looking dog than the show type!
  15. Heres a couple pics of my springer 'Paddy' beating/ picking up on a local shoot.
  16. Cheers for the advice lads!
  17. Look at what mess the so called 'breed standards' have done to the bulldog, mastiff, german shepards etc. the working cocker and springer spaniel are totally different dogs to the show types, which are dopey, stupid, have hair and ears thats too long. if your dog works well it is (in my opinion) worth more than any show type. i would remind the lady of the mess the kennel club is in regarding their breed standards! and they ruin good breeds with their narrow mindedness
  18. Thats a mighty fine cow picture, i was fooled, didnt know which cow was a fake until i saw the bloke with the gun!

  21. Ive seen uk bred Ibizan Hounds race and they seem slow, definately not up to 40mph maybe the native ones have more speed. the Kazakh Tazi/Saluki looks an amazing dog. did you see it work?
  22. As much as you love/hate the program this is all the public have got to make up their minds about shooting sports. so as edited and daft as parts were, it put shooting in the limelight and should be congratulated. as for taking novices out shooting at wild animals? i think that was a bit of bad form, especially when they couldnt consistantly hit clays. the program has done more for public/shooting relations in a week than the BASC has in five years! i am a BASC member and know they do a lot hard work and pro shooting lobbying behind the scenes but after the program was aired i had pe
  23. The one i owned was keen as mustard but a bit too quick and was in and out of the vets all the time.
  24. I work springers and cockers and have been interested in the lurcher cross, but i cannot see what they could improve over a collie/grey lurcher. if you want a bushing dog use a pure bred spaniel/terrier. But if you can produce some good lurchers and prove everyone wrong well done!
