  1. Collie/grey off here has a nice one, my dogs dam. Works well. I think a lot dont like the man, more than the dogs he pumps out. I have no experiance with him, but seen a few good uns he has breed.
  2. Yes, seen those on tele, they became very dog like, tail wagging ect. Some russian fur farm i think ?
  3. all animals show leader ship I would call it more "survival of the fittest" than leadership in most cases. I.e dominance of the weak, not actual leadership. True pack animals are actually quite rare in the big scheme of things. Bears, and foxes for that matter, are solitary animals when not raising young or breifly mating. As are most cats, mice ect.
  4. Since when were bears pack animals ?
  5. He looks like my type of dog micky. blues thrown a few merles too 1 in an accerdental mating to a whippet and 6 to a sal/grey Must be a strong gene, the merle, as he is only 1/16th border collie, so the pups are only 1/32 tooth (think i just made the tooth bit up, but it sounds right lol)
  6. harriet looks a cracker, a fine beast there mate. Blue with one of his son's
  7. Not much beats a good night out in the wind rain and cold, watching your dog fill the freezer in lamp light. Try it, you might like it.
  8. Really been tempted to invest in one myself, will get one before next season I recon Just got an mk3m so thats my hoddy money done foe a bit lol.
  9. They never stop breeding around here.
  10. Some of those tubes of sterlie water are handy for washing out cuts. Bandages, tape, both medical and electrical., sciccors, I also carry a small spray bootle of iodine.
  11. When I had 2 collars, I would still put 4 ferrets in bigger warrens, but used to collar the older 2, as they were more likely to kill below ground. I never had any problems doing this, but that doesnt mean you won't, it's a risk you have to decide yourself to take, or not too take, and knowing your ferrets helps a little. I now have 4 collars, so no worries now.
  12. Sounds like a good home to me. I would, but then, I only keep dogs, so will not being having any litters
  13. Cool, looking it at, it dont need taping, so I'll leave them as they are. Certainly seem a lot more rugged than the old mk3, were the side bits that hold the collar have snapped on me a few times.

even if you get a pair of pin nosed pliers and give it a tug ? Had one where it didnt come right out, and managed to soulder it, but that was only about 1cm into the handle.
  15. Take him lamping first would be my thoughts.

Lightforce striker or blitz, the striker is a better alrounder, the blitz good for big stuff. Only problem with them is they need a total rewiring, but other than that, you cant beat them imho.
  17. Thanks, so a long process of hard culling. Doesnt seem worth it too me for just a colouring.
  18. I agree its not worth the risk. Not questioning you on your post, I'm certain you are right, but just wondering if you know how breeds like the australian shepard get around this ?
  19. Yep, you are right, its a fairly tricky subject, but does interessed me, as it seems it does you too.
  20. But the same gene can be in a dog not showing much white, you can have other dominant genes, hiding less dominant, but still dominant genes. Its a risk which ever way you look at it, was my point.
  21. Every bit of ground has its down side, sand traps can snap legs, small hills can help the rabbit escape the beam, and also rabbits tend to move like rockets on the nice short grass. Still, thats all part of what makes it a fun sport, no 2 runs are the same.
  22. Youll be very hard pushed to find land that isnt fenced, i run mainly barbwired fenced fields, as If I didnt, I would have 1 small golf course to run ;-) You run the land you can get.
  23. I think all the colour (more white ext) eye colour (both blue ext) is all a bit of bolax, I think you could certainly have not problems crossing merle to merle, but that in some cases, you certainly could, so is it worth the risk ? As you say, some breeds that are merle, are always crossed, with little problems and also the hybridisation of lurchers, means a right mixed gene pool, even in 2 merle's so this should lessen the risks, butstill, you would kick your self if you ended up with a deaf litter, or with some of the other problems associated with this cross. I myself wouldnt
  24. agreed Though i bet he comes over different over a pint in the pub.
