  1. By looking at that video and comparing it to Glens video, wouldn't he been best setting the net one bar lower to extend the kill in the net and place the net the opposite side if the hares coming from the direction he says. Or have i got it wrong?
  2. He obviously knows his stuff did Glen but the land he hunted must have been moving with hares and other game. I would love to know how glen teachers his lurchers to work a field though? Is he still netting now?
  3. cheers guys, its something I have seen done and read about and I have done it myself but i don't think i have missed a rabbit by not putting foot over the hole.Share luck or maybe its because the warrens don't hold huge numbers of rabbits around here so we don't expect a second bolt . Its probably why we just forget to do it now and then. Great tip for a beginner though
  4. We work and in our spare time we do the things we enjoy and I will keep filming it. I might need to grow up but at the age of 23 im not going to rush things.
  5. Great read mate, It looks like you can be going back to your old ferreting partner and show him how its to be done properly from now. what a gent for giving you a ferret as well.
  6. Thanks for watching guys, it was a lovely morning. Can't wait to be driving again so I can find some new places.
  7. Would you take her ferreting whilst shes in season and Hows the border doing? Did you ever us them yellow spun nylon nets?
  8. Thanks Vin, I will ask him to practice for a new video. It does look better cleaner, Brandon just likse to know they are dead as quick as possible. He shouldn't need to pull a 2nd and 3rd time because im sure they are already dead with his first stretch. Lol Tomo, I cant keep anything hidden from you I have never liked to see rabbits getting the chop, it doesn't look good and if you get them wrong the squeal like hell. New vid, Brandon's chinning challenge. Btw you ever tried chinning a hare? thanks guys rew
  9. Well done guys I was expecting a post from you jim or tomo.
  10. Here's my latest video filmed over a month ago, No longnets or dogs this time just using purse nets. I was considering calling the video ' The farthing wood' because wild life was out in abundance. It was a cold but great morning sport. take a look and I hope you like it. http://youtu.be/m7TV-wxLH-c rew
  11. Boody hell, I wonder what there catch rate is? I did like the look of the brindle.
  12. Good score, great conditions last night.
  13. I'm a believer that you shouldn't ferret the same warren more than twice at most. All the places I have ferreted this year have only been once.
  14. thanks only if she had her sisters feet but I cant not agree with those comments and It has made me think differently already. Just got back from lamping with brother in laws dogs. Its his first season lamping and hes running a 3/4 grey 1/4saluki and I was truly impressed with her stamina . We had to bike 5 mile, lamped a few big rabbits on long slips, put one in the bag and had to cycle back 5 mile but this bitch wasn't even slowing down. The best thing is she wasn't bred from workers either. Just typical.
  15. I just wished I had a car 5 years ago, she would have always been fit and less likely to have had the injuries shes recieved. Until now I have had to go to the same places with hardly any game available, certainly not enough to keep her ticking over. With a good hour walk away from these local fields, I honestly can say once or twice a week was enough for me and that wouldn't necessarily mean we see much worth running. I was fortunate enough to go to the dales with tomo on 3 occasions where she did well on the lamp. Then back on home ground, 5 rabbits and a couple hares a week wouldn't of
  16. cheers mate will take a look at his topics see if I can find a pic.
  17. Only been out with a few people in my time to be honest but she never failed to give everything when running and that is best seen coursing against other lurchers of similar sighthound blood. If she didn't catch on the day doubled up then none of them did but if we did catch something it was usually her that stopped the chase. Im not going to say she was the greatest dog on the planet but I think her injuries occurred because she wasn't half hearted, she did damage her first toe running over a train line and then others followed with the added pressure. She's loved to carry things as
  18. This spring I would like to breed from my old bitch fly but im not sure what dogs are available and worth breeding from. Shes a good honest bitch that has took everything but somethings doubled up. She would always be the better dog if slipped double up , its in her nature to better any dog she ran with. Shes 24.5"tts Dam whippet x greyhound sire deerhound collie x whippet greyhound Good points Great strike Enough stamina for a good nights lamping 42 rabbits up the dales was her best score. Steady dog to ferret with. Did ok daytime. Good at tracking deer Her only major
  19. I want a dog that's capable to run on the bigger fields daytime. I like the idea of a deer x grey over her, is that snipe dog up for stud do you know?
  20. Oh yeah it was Friday the 13th when the 4x4 hit mine as well. How unlucky ay.
  21. yeah that's basically it, my excess was £395 which they took from the value of my old car which went to total loss. They have basically said they have to take the excess until the third party insurance company agree to pay the charges sometime in the future. This doesn't sound like im guaranteed to get this back either because after all that It left me £105 which my insurance have took straight away because I still owe £900 in direct debits. It has screwed me up because I was hoping I would receive the £500 which was the value of the car and this would have helped me get back on the road
  22. They have took it back now. I didnt receive any cash for the old one either so im on the look out for a cheap runner again. Only want to spend £400 or below.
  23. She is mate thanks. Would like to breed her before its to late.
  24. cheers pal, just editing a new one so keep a look out.
