  1. from my point of view most terriers will kill rats and what ever else is put in front of them but not many will find,work and stay,under ground with its quarry.but what ever you are into,but i feel that earth work is what most terriers were built for!!!!!
  2. cheers busterbuster,aint easy lifting them sheds on my own and trying to controll 3 terriers.
  3. nice one mate,getting jelous watching everyone else digging at the moment.still waiting to start round here.
  4. glad to see there are some decent blokes on here woz!it takes time to get any breed of dog to work correctly and admire anyone who can do it!we should not slag off other peoples sports just enjoy what we do.
  5. respect what you are saying woz but we all enjoy different types of terrier work.for me there is nothing like the sound of a baying dog down a hole.i have never been bushing,but i would never put another mans sport down.each to there own i say.
  6. have to admit there is nothing that beats digging but a bit of ratting is good fun,just put up a new topic of what i did this morning.
  7. went out this morning on my own to my mates farm for a bit of sport.still waiting for the digging season to start here.i do enjoy a bit of ratting,only got 32,but i was alone.
  8. saying that i do every now and then here of a good one,my mates trying to get rid of his dogs,he has just split up from his mrs,might have his bull greyhound but he has got a good russell bitch but he wont advertise they will just go.
  9. yea i agree with you mate always bring your own stuff on unless you are in a real muddle and need a going dog!lets face it who sells a good working,proven terrier.
  10. never seen this myself but heard about two differnt dogs doing this after working for some time.they just jacked,afraid of facing the quarry again!!
  11. a russell black n tan,for sure.have only seen a few pure white lakies and there not that common.
  12. just got to say i do get fed up with hearing the arguments on here but most of the dogs shown in this are russells!!!!!
  13. you are coming into it at the wrong time unfortunately!every one enters dogs in different ways,some say start a young dog on cubs,some say with stop ends but there are many ways.you are better off finding a bloke in your area who will take you out.

  15. got a six year old lakeland myself,work him constantly.end of each season he looks a bit tired but soon recovers.my mate srill working a 10 year old russell,hell of a dog!now is a good time to breed out of him though.but most dogs are different had to retire my 8 year old black and tan last year,just could not do it any more.
  16. sorry forgot to say he works to ground but only just got him going at the end of last season.
  17. he is 14 inches unlike me!!my mate bred him out of a northern bred dog called bob.who is still working well even though he is ten.

  21. ratting is a good bit of fun,gets the terriers fit for the coming season!
