The fight should definately have been stopped,probably earlier than it actually was......gomez was stopping too many accurate unanswered punches.....some fighters are too brave for their own good and a fight stopped fractionally too early is always better than a fight stopped fractionally too late.....things were only going to get worse for gomez against a younger stronger fitter and most importantly....bigger opponent.....the better fighter won so why risk serious injury to a guy who most probably would not have taken the easy way out.

What a shame.....there used to be some pretty knowledgable boxing folk posting on this site.......clearly not anymore !.....personally i dont think khans got a glass jaw,but even if he has,it didnt do nigel benn much harm....he had the speed and guts to get through it,just like khan possibly has......as for all the folk who wanted to put him in with world champs maybe now you realise how the game works....you learn your trade THEN you fight big important fights not the other way round. Like i said a few years ago...i,ll take bets with anyone who thinks khan wont win a version of a world title

My apologies to you knowledgable folk who will see this as a dumb question but if you dont know i guess the only way is to ask..... I had to drive to a small village called ickford close to aylesbury,bucks yesterday.....just as i was coming off the m40 i noticed what i first thought was a group of kestrels hovvering.....all the way through to the village i saw more little groups of 10- 15 of them,i pulled over to watch them for a while and realised they were way too big to be kestrels....they were fairly large powerful birds....having very little knowledge,but a little interest in falconry...

Well if you meant what was peoples favorites you should have said....but you asked who would win !...well my logic tells me a boxer would win a boxing match and an mma fighter would win an mma fight....just like a tennis player might win a tennis match and and a cricketer zzzzzzzzzz....see what i mean,theres no logic to the question.....

Trappa....ufc/mma....was designed as a contest to see who would win a fight,it was never specifically aimed at martial arts/boxing.....which martial art does head butting come under ? headbutts played a big role in the early ufc,s....as did groin shots,kicks to the head of a downed opponent......and many more...none of these come under the banner of a martial art...its just part of what happens in a real fight........vale tudo was the nearest thing to a real fight which is why fighters such as randy couture started off in it in the no rules fighting world. Yes but it defeats the whole object of the sport.....as the chap above says,the origins of mma was vale tudo......ufc 1 to about 7 was it i cant remember....were real fights,as close to what anyone could call " a real fight "...that was its design.....but it was banned in most states in america because it was too violent !!....the many rules since have been brought in by the ufc backing down to society and tv companies.......as you saidthere was 2 rules thats all....now thats a fight.....yes timed rounds make sense......but the amount of things you now cant do in a fight stop it from being a "

If your not a fan of boxing mate thats fine.....but dont come out with a big sweeping statement like that without evidence to back it up,or is it just your view......when did the uk last have a year like its just had ?..3 world champions,2 of whom are top 10 pound for pound fighters......whole stables of good fighters in wales,london,sheffield etc....some good jocks.....khans a great prospect if you accept him as being british,along with a lot of other good young prospects....... whos our british hopes for world titles in mma ? michael bisping,who personally i dont think will win a world titl

Its always a shame when a once very good fighter has to come back when he shouldnt.....as much as i dislike the man id hate to see another boxing casualty and he is crying out to be made an example of......hopefully he wont get back in there.

As much respect and interest as i have in mma...for me it still doesnt compare to boxing and probably never will.....the thing is at the moment is that mma is fashionable thats all......but lets not forget what it started out as....look at the early ufc,s......ok there wasnt too much talent on display but it was what it said on the tin...." a fight ".....now its no more a fight than any other martial art.....the ufc brought in so many rules in order to fit in with what society wasnt prepared to put up with.....that money became more important than the original make up of the sport....ok its hu

wow bummer !.....as has already been said it was a good section....its the nature of bull breeds to attract controversy so there will always be some whether that be in real life or on an internet forum.....but i guess in real life you can just put the phone down or say bxxxxxs.......on here i suppose it needs moderating for everyones benefit and it must be full time work so understandable nobody would want to do it....however,many thanks to Stabs and co for doing their best and best of luck in future exploits..

To be honest i didnt think my post would be taken so literally...obviously im not in the habit of randomly knocking down bike riders who just happen to cross the white line no......i simply meant i dont think its right.......so apologies if fxxk em was taken out of context im sure you got my drift without having to explain that im not out on a biker hunt ! I live in an area that is a well known bikers meeting place on a summer sunday and the times ive had to literally swerve out the way to avoid them 2 thirds of the way into my lane on a single carriageway......thats what made me post in the

i would like to hear the "motorcycilists stupid overtaking tactics" Been reading this with interest as the one thing that really does my nut in is these dickheads on bikes who steam down the wrong side of the road to get to the front of a queue of traffic,expecting folk coming up the other way who are not sitting in a queue of traffic to move over.......fxxk em....if you want to drive down the wrong side of a road then be it on your head what might hit you head on which is innocently driving on the correct side of the road.......riding a motorbike isnt an automatic licence to get somewh

Sorry to ask whats probably a dumb question mate....but is " repetetive strain injury " an actual medical complaint....what i mean is did your doc diagnose it as that ?....only asking as ive had a hand pain for a few months now and just put it down to simply getting older, without really getting it checked out......having read this thread though i think i might....all the best with it anyway.

Remember seeing a pic in an old ed reid mag back around 91,what was described as the " only " tosa in the country.....so there was at least 1.......dont know about the other breeds mentioned,not sure anyone would have known what they was back then.

Slow down lads....this was from last year,i just dragged it up to see who was close..... Maybe we,re leave next seasons predictions till about august,you never know chelsea might buy spiderman,king kong and the A team over the summer......then where will we be !
