Im not knocking anyone as i appreciate anything is worth what someones willing to pay......................but what is it that makes these birds so expensive ? i saw 1 Bullfinch in a bird centre at the wknd with a £950 price tag on it .......................im no skinflint like i say i accept things have value to those who are into whatever it is..............but im just curious to know why they have such value ? is it hard to breed these little birds ? they dont seem particularly rare..... and what makes one more expensive than another ? singing ability...looks ....what ? Paul getting up from flash first round knockdowns cant be compared in any way to having to dig down and look deep within yourself during the later rounds of hard punishing draining battles where your back is against the wall for long periods. What a pair of plums !.....Brookie like you say its probably best you dont get into these boxing threads i agree....because you either dont read very well or dont really understand the sport like i once thought you did........or probably a bit of both ! If you re-read i said Froch could not get near Calzaghe for pure ability and would more than likely lose to him 99 times out of 100................but to suggest Calzaghe showed heart anywhere near the level Froch has tells me you dont see " heart " or " gameness " in the same way i do..........fighting with a sore hand doesnt show gameness...

Interesting ..................i guess im questioning what qualities an ebt could stamp in on generations of quality breeding and reproduce.........i still cant see it myself whether it be physical or mental qualities i fail to see how or what an ebt could add to a good representative of a bulldog in any kind of athletic pursuit.

Best of its era yes......to compare to purebred bulldogs of later eras would just be silly.......all them old crosses be them stafford/ebt or the bulldog/ebt ones were dogs of their day.............if you had all day to think of an ebt cross in more recent times that made its mark you couldnt do it..........times move on.

You might be right Pip.....i just think the gap in class between Froch/Kessler was not as massive as with Froch/Ward.....and without doubt Froch has improved since Kessler whereas maybe Kessler hasnt......... Personally i think he should leave Bute out if he is not contractually obliged to give him a return he has nothing to prove there ..... with the amount of miles Froch has on the clock he needs to make every fight he has left count now...............you have to admire his desire,planning out 3 top quality fights for next year.......good luck to him he,s like a breath of fresh air.

Got to agree with that i think Jews take a lot of unwarranted stick............probably like me Wilf you have a certain amount of hatred for Spurs but in fairness you wont find them whingeing and crying about a few silly terrace chants that their own fans sing......Jews dont go in for all the playing the victim nonsense like some of these soppy wogs ......and they are one of the most victimised races to of ever walked the earth !!!

When did he ever have to prove he had a big heart ? his style of fighting,speed,pure ability and engine meant he never had to come from behind to guts out a win with heart alone........and he never had to come back from a loss...........so where is the big heart........ Different things appeal to different people....for me high achivement with limited ability will always be much more impressive than high achivement with god given talent.......but each to their own of course.

Not to jump into someone elses debate.......but personally i dont think Froch is a particularly great fighter,he has no great skills,no real ability..........................but if you have boxed yourself sweater then you will be with me and admire the qualities it takes for a man without great natural talent to reach the very highest level of his sport............one of the things i admire most about Froch is he doesnt fear a loss like many fighters these days,one being the Welshman you made reference to......Calzaghe would beat Froch with one hand behind his back on a monday tuesday and duri

I totally agree good dogs are where you find them.....but getting the absolute best from a good dog sometimes just isnt possible.......documented evidence indicates that ebt,s have simply never made the grade in the highest levels of conditioned performance in competition......thats proof enough for me -
oh absolutely.....wouldnt know if he,s a game lad as ive never seen him tested but im certainly behind him simply because he,s a Brit...same as im behind Price..........only because i know the game can i accept the bullshit but i can see how it would put off folk who are not 100% into boxing these 2 are not kids carving out a career a loss wont stop either of them making a good living off the game of boxing.....and thats the annoying part for me.

Same here i was given tickets for this fight a few weeks ago.....gave them away yesterday in favour of going to the North London derby at the Emirates earlier..... just sitting waiting for the fight to come on the box now..........Britains most exciting fighter for a long time in my opinion Froch think i might of made the wrong choice today though it was a cracking game !

Cracks me up the bullshit between these 2........they are both fighting dead bodies the only difference is Price is fighting dead bodies whos names we know.....Furys next opponent is according to him " a step up in class ".......why,because he fought Klitchko and lost every round....Johnson has never beaten an opponent in the top 30 and lost last time out in the Prizefighter tournament.................and he,s a step up .............and some people used to knock Amir Khans level of opponent when he was coming up !!

Jawn what in your opinion does an ebt add to the cross ?.....the last bulldog i owned i was asked by a young fella with an ebt to breed it to his bitch and i have to admit i did contemplate it long and hard but in the end i just couldnt justify doing it.... it felt like i was simply giving a hand out to a breed that didnt deserve it and knew i couldnt live with myself for compromising what i knew to be right and proper......i just wonder what folk who have done the cross think it could add.

In my opinion ANY dog can be put into lean healthy day to day condition.......but i dont think you could get a showbred ebt into peak condition the way you would put a bulldog through a keep.....i just dont think they have the physical or mental ability ......a dog bred with the aim of prancing round a showring will have had athletic physical qualities sacrificed for " a look "......not just a silly shaped head and dense bones etc......but also the things you cant see with the eye elastcity/flexibility of joints/ligaments,tendon strength etc etc......right down to inherent lung power.....the d
