What a result! Just as well you shot them first as that dog at the front looks like he could put up a fair fight. Fingers crossed your lot heal good and true and are out 'helping' again soon.

Just checked out tvguide.co.uk for info on both programmes and neither mention rabbits. Ah well.

Faintly hoping this works as I could do with some help, but seriously doubting you will see any improvement. -
How to zero a scope
McSparkie replied to Grim Reaper's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I have no objection McSparkie, its cool - the more people it can help, better for all! Plus, if you have put a link to here, then that is good as well. Having said all that, i would be fascinated to have a look at the site/forum you have posted it on though - my 2 have bikes, and i could always use the info! lol Regards, Grim. Cool! Have a shuftie here. If you can't see it, let me know and I'll sort something. -
How to zero a scope

Grim, Hope you don't object but I've cut and pasted your 'how to' onto a bike site of all things. I've given you full credit and can supply the site details if you like (I think it's in a members only area). I originally put a link to here, but this is also a members only area. As I say it's a direct cut and paste, but I'll kill it if you object. -
Must admit to being curious about this stuff, but also about 'hiding your scent'. If it's as good as he says you would indeed be covered in bunnies. You wouldn't need a gun! Hmmm, I wonder which guns he uses Sorry folks, you'll have to find someone else to buy a bottle and report back.

Me neither. Woodcock eyes appear white in the beam, or so I've been told.. Maybe that's why I keep missing the little blighters

It's a good job I've got plenty of enthusiasm Matt, what with all the thistles, nettles, blackthorn, gorse, brambles, heather, & bracken I've had to scythe though today to get myself 3 poxy rabbits mate! It's all good though! We have loads of stuff like that around the farm. No rabbits, but you might find the odd tenner

Our 2 year old, his 'big' sister (3 and a half) and her sleep-over friend are all kicking off big style. Their Nan has just returned from hospital and is feeling poorly. I'm on week 3 of the stop smoking game. If we could just manage to get the kids 'off', I'd be happy. A bottle of red and a hot bath all to yourself sounds like absolute luxury just now. Room for a wee one?

I haven't seen any badger sets, so looks like I have an explanation for why the bunnies were so scarce that night too.

Coming back from my wander round the fields. I have a weak (white(ish)) lamp attached and played it around as I was making for the exit and notices a pair of amber eyes looking at me. I noticed that if I saw one, I mostly saw both, so figured it was a preditor, not prey species. It was larger than a rabbit, but smaller than a decent dog. When it ran it was a smooth gait, not hops. The thing that was most remakable were the colour of the reflections - they were a pronounced amber in colour. Rabbits reflect back mostly white or slightly yellow and sheep come back pure white in this lamp li

Only had my first recently. Felt OK about it as it was clean and quick.

Shortage of rabbits........?
McSparkie replied to Rolfe's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Only got my gun this summer (so have been paying special attention), but there seems to be a lot less this year (in south Wales). Haven't seen any mixi though. Loads of foxes and buzzards though, so they must be finding them. -
We regularly see two mature and one juvenile buzzards, a couple of kestrels and for the first time in my long life, a peregrine falcon. I've heard three or four different owl hoots of a night, but have never spotted one yet. I have a wee bat who follows me as I leave the house and head over the fields too. He must be after all the flies and suchlike I disturb. Cheeky bugger really puts the frighteners up me as the first thing you know about him being there is when you see him arrowing straight at your face as stupid speeds!

Woohoo! No 1 in the freezer! I got up before dawn again for the next round. I decided to use my new monocle toy instead of swinging the rifle up every couple of yards, to minimize my visibility. The bloody thing is going to the kids as a new toy! The first I saw of my friend and his mate was when they decided I was too close and made for the bushes. If I'd been using the scope I would have seen them well in time to creep up on them. Grrrrrrr! However, I decided that I should scout out another area where I have seen droppings. I had a fag, then went into stealth mode (I knew t

Just keep an eye open for psylicyben! Not something you want to mess with 'in the field'.

Still trying to Christen my new toy here and getting mighty frustrated in the process! I was out on the hill where I have seen some bunnies previously. There is an avenue that runs east to west. The wind was coming from the west - I was coming into it. I had been digging myself through the bracken, brambles, barbed wire and gorse to get to where I'd seen the little darlings previously, off to one side of the avenue. I saw one, but about 70 yards away. So (in my new 'lucky' DPM jacket) I crept as carefully as possible up to the spot. I even managed to get into the clear avenue, stickin

Nice trick with the eggs SS I'll try that sometime myself to see the outcome, I've had a good few crows with this pistol as well I think they are just a little more astute than pigeons but not as fly as the Magpie . I'm still saving hard for my air rifle ATM but I'm very pleased with this Sheridan pistol, I chronographed it and it was doing 5-6 pound depending on the cartridge level and it is as accurate as hell. Today it was a little undressed (with out it's silencer) and it's a definate pet project I'm rather proud of. Here's a picture of it fully dressed with the Weirauch silencer and las

How to zero a scope
McSparkie replied to Grim Reaper's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Cool, let us know how you get on mate. The only major reason i choose to do it at every 5 yards or so, is just so that any scope problems would become evident much earlier on, like? Thats only my preference - i was taught it was best to do it that way and so carry it on, you see? Regards (and thanks for the input bud ), Grim. Actually that was a typo, I meant 27.5m. Sitting or kneeling, I can get a group within about a 2" diameter. I've also started playing with bipod substitutes and I'm much better, but the kids keep wanting their toys back -
I'm currently looking at a Harris HB4 Universal adaptor and a Shooters Ridge Rockmount 'S' Pivotting Bipod Harris Style 13.5 - 23" Has anyone used this combo? Pennies are tight(ish). Are the Rockmount any good (they look identical to the Harris kit)? Do any of the cheaper clip-on ones actually work???

How to zero a scope
McSparkie replied to Grim Reaper's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hmmm, sounds like a plan. Not sure if I have the patience to do every five yards/meters (also the 'range' is not exactly level), but I have found I'm happy at about 17.5m, so I'll follow your lead. -
When my good wife decided to pop our 2 she took milliseconds! 1st one took a couple (literally) of hours of labour (the spasms and suchlike, then about 7 minutes of the proper stuff (panting, pushing, breathing, repeat!) and out popped #1. #2 was even quicker! I will not admit to the speeds I hit on the M4 to get to the hospital on time, on a public forum. Suffice to say the chap that was imprisoned earlier this week for doing in excess of 130 on his bike would have felt he was going backwards! Fingers crossed for your lass having as easy as possible a time as can be had. Jee

Must admit I find myself very jealous of the 1 x 40 group (pun intended).

I'm probably going to regret this but: Keep a close eye or your dogs for the immediate future mate.
