  2. Why is it an issue that she lies down? If you want her to stay and she is doing that I cant see a problem. You are trying to cure an issue that does not exist. If there is enough to keep her stimulated then she will stay up if not she may just want to chill. There should be no need for the stay command as sit means sit until your told to do something else.
  3. Yes but if the oppurtunity arises I would take a free one, worth trying a free one before paying. Then I would have more to spend on other stuff (I want a shotgun Cert. etc;) And I rarely get paid for beating as it's like a private shoot. But I know of beats that would pay me. And I'd be lucky to get 30 quid a beat,if that's what you get lucky you There are plenty of shoots in Gloucestershire paying £30 for a days beating. Get out beating, save your money and you will value the dog more as you will have earned, bought and paid for it yourself. Also you will get the chance to meet

  7. Phil Haynes at Poachers Pocket Lurchers used to breed some good ones. Not sure if he still does or is about any more though.
  8. FFS, The post said ABOUT 2 YEARS NOT EXACTLY As you say, you did not know he was in the states until I said it, so your advice to use him was wrong as he is not available for stud in the UK. Issues regarding his health would also make me very cautious about using him. You got it wrong.
  9. You got it wrong!! You said it was impossible that he was in the USA. But he is. You got Valtos title wrong. You advised using a stud dog that is no longer in the UK. You even signed in with the wrong account.
  10. The facts are correct, johnbhoy or is it jaydar. You cant even sign in with the correct account. You suggest using a dog no longer in the UK then say it is impossible that he is in the USA. You then say you have a dog by a a field trial winner 2008 called Valtos, who we all know is a FTCH and Championship Winner. Wind your neck in, he is in the States, the fact are correct, the dates my be slightly out but for the last feckin time the post said ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. The fact is he is in the States. I said about 2 years!!!!!!!!!!! As he is in the USA he is not exactly a UK stud prospect as Jaydar was suggesting. No point someone trying to find a dog that is no longer available in the UK at stud. He also mentions Field Trial Winner Valtos, Valtos is a FTCH and also won the Championship. So perhaps his facts and advice were in fact incorrect.
  12. that is impossible because ave got a cocker sired by kingcott del and its only 15months old, got pedigree to prove it The dog ran in the 2008 cocker championship so was still here then. Yes he did, that was the 10th Jan 08, not quite 2 years but about as I said. He was sold to an owner in the USA just after the Championships. 17 months 2 years, the fact remains he IS IN THE STATES Not a know all jb, only a fool thinks he knows it all.
  13. that is impossible because ave got a cocker sired by kingcott del and its only 15months old, got pedigree to prove it The dog is in the USA, as I have said. Del went to the States, the quoted figure was £8500 for the sale, as I said about 2 years ago. This may vary from source to source but will not be far from the original price paid.
  14. Kingcott Del is no longer in the UK, he went to the states about 2 years ago. A fine looking dog but there are some reports of issues with this dog.
  15. Unless the dog is steady to the flush then it will be of little use with the gun. Every Beddy/Whippet I have seen have been excellent hunters and capable of filling the pot without the aid of a gun. If your dog flushes and gives chase as it will, you will be unable to shoot anything for fear of missing behind and hitting the dog. If you want a pot filler go with the BeddyX, if you want a dog to work with the gun then go for a recognised gundog.
  16. If you are looking to keep many of your bitches qaulites it might be an idea to consider FTCH Timsgary Barlow he is sired by Argyl Warrior and was also the 2007 cocker champion. I know this is close but you can outcross next time if you keep a bitch pup back. Barlow does produce some excellent dogs, but I am pretty certain that Simon would not allow half brother to sister matings from him. It is just a bit too close.
  17. If the dog is getting bored there are two alternatives. Reduce the number of retrieves he is given or make them more challenging. Once I have a dog retrieving well I do very little practice with it, maybe a few a week to stop it getting rusty.
  18. Now I may be missing something here but I cannot recall anywhere where the person offering the dog has even mentioned children If this is not directed at the original poster then perhaps a new thread should be started and not allow this one to become corrupted amd misrepresent the original post.
  19. Was that aimed at me? I was saying about an FAC, not an SGC, as that was the question asked. It was not aimed at anyone in particular. There has been lots of conflicting advice given re SGC and FAC in this thread. The post was to give everyone the correct information and a point of reference to bring the matter to a close and clear any confusion due to the endless contradictions.
  20. There is no minimum age for a SGC. The minimum age for a FAC is 14. Before posting advice please check the advice given is correct before you post it. http://www.shootingtimes.co.uk/sportingans..._age_limit.html http://www.suffolk.police.uk/Services/Fire...g/Young+People/ http://www.northern.police.uk/firearm-shot...strictions.html http://www.countryside-alliance.org.uk/sho...cation-process/
  21. No, Muntjac only ever ever give birth to one. There have been no recorded cases of Muntjac twins. Muntjac are one of the oldest and least developed species of deer in existence, the ability to reproduce on an endless cycle negates the need to produce twins. Does are pregnant within days of giving birth, and carry for 7 months, by then the fawn will be sexually mature and pregnant. Now you can see how they have spread so fast so quickly, and if you don't have them yet you will soon.
  22. Get an ad in Shooting Times, a few have been sold through there recently.
