  3. had half a shift yesterday to get the new ackley run in,i am new to all this fireforming crack but after advice from another site i got sorted with load info, anyhow chamberd the first load and squezed off the triger and removed what looked to me like a good fireformed 223 round, then cleaned the barrel,i done this a total of five times, shoot one then clean, then i shot eight and cleaned i done this a total of five times all the time zeroing my scope, then i fired the last five then again cleaned the barrel i can get upto 400 yds safe shooting from this pointthese were the best of the targets the
  4. Looks like you had some fast action in a short time a very good night indeed ,the first fox looks as though he is a fair legy one
  5. I think i would be careful adding a bit on the stock ,you have a very fine stock would be a shame to ruin it if not done right, i had a stock pad on my old remi and this brought the comb up a little plus it had storage for ammo
  6. Well Lucas i was in the same boat some years ago, now if you can join a gun club you will benefit from it ,this is what i done ,you will learn aspects in the diferent firearms ,you can use 22 rf rifles and will learn probably the most important the safety side , this will show the f.l.o when he visits you have experience with firearms ,this will give you time to save for your own rifle and to gain permision i was lucky enough to have a fair bit of permision this goes a fair way to geting your certificate ,which ever way you go all the best of luck
  7. Nice bag ian i would have thought someone with your experience wouldnt run out of bullets
  8. Sounds like you had a good night and some good range shots spot on , shame you couldnt upload the pics
  9. Its a shame you can not reload as i am sure you would get some very good groups if you can shoot like that with factory loads, i think you have the makeings of a very good accurate rifle there John no doubt pillar beding will improve it even further,i had a T8 on my old remi a very good moderator only downfall was it made the rifle front heavy that is why i opted for a T4 AR on my new ackley
  10. Nice result john and a very nice bit of kit you took them out with realy like the look of that stock, are you using home loads as that is a good group & i bet your mate will not forget next time that you havent got a moderator
  11. Nice shooting sure made a clean kill were you using factory or home loads
  12. Well i fancied a change in my rifle and decided to go down the semi custom road , got in touch with Russ Gall of R.G.RIFLES in aberdeenshire i decided to have my remi 700 blueprinted, have a kreiger barrel pillar beded into my original stock, custom bolt, screw cut for my reflex T8 moderator and some teflon coating on the action and bolt handle, eventualy got the call that Russ need my rifle to start work on,rather than send it a decided to take it up to his place after a five hour trip i arrived at his place after a cuppa and a bit of a crack it was down to bussines he showed me a couple of rifle

  16. Nowt on the box last night so went for a wander on my local area,i know there are a few roe in the surounding areas, its just being in the right place at the right time and catching one on my patch, last night i was in the right area at the right time, going down a deep gutter to aproach an area i was hopeing to see something i spoted the buck unfortunatley he spoted me as well it was then a mexican stand off,he made off to some cover my chance to make a move got down to a good shooting point then just waited, and waited, and waited then he showed got the cross hairs on him and down he went at abou
  17. i have used one of the marlin goose guns ,i shot quite a few fox's with it at fair distances ,it was very efective at reducing rabbit numbers as if you had a group of rabbits close together you could take them out with one shot the only downside is it was a bit long and numb to swing about, plus not worth a lot of money
  18. Nice bit of bunny bashing foxhunter, and done in style as well cant be bad
  19. the rifle is a remi 700 vssf in 223 with a T-8 moderator and the stock was like that when i purchased it the scope is a nightforce 12-42x56 br series, this rifle will no longer be seen as it went to a gun smith yesterday to be blueprinted ,new kreiger heavy barrel,A5 Mcmillan stock, new custom bolt, action to be teflon coated ,new rings, new moderator, and chamberd in 223 Ackley improved the gunsmith informed me that the stock was an original hs precision stock and it was unusual to see one in mossy oak
  20. This some new ground secured yesterday the house above is well up from the sets so all shots were safe ,i now have somewhere where i can get some good range rabbit shooting, shots over 400 yds are possible and all safe shots as well, the furthest for the day was 274 yds not real long shots but fun all the same and keeps the confidence going the total bag for a couple of hours was 20 hits plus the usual misses, shot quite a few less than half grown rabbits to make it a bit more challenging at range, some may dissagree with this but everyone is entitled to there opinion, plus the farmer is wanting th
  21. This some new ground secured yesterday
  22. I am takeing my remi next week for a bit of surgery the action blueprinted ,custom bolt, pillar beding, kreiger barrel, teflon coating of the action (cosmetic )may get a Mcmillan stock fitted just depends on the waiting time depending how much better the jewel triger is than mine may have one fitted, may not be a long range gun but will suite my shooting
  23. Well welshdragon i have a remi 700 vssf in 223 although a litle heavy after a nights lamping i am well pleased ,my first 223 was a ruger and the diference is worth the extra cash i have had rabbits crows and foxs at good ranges and get good accuracy with my home loads ,however my rifle is going to be blueprinted next week ,rechamberd to 223 Ack Imp so i am expecting beter results from this ,what ever you chose i hope you have lots of fun shooting it
  24. You sure got that stalking down to a fine art foxhunter
  25. Every one is entitled to there views joe and i dont condem you for this but if it was target practice i was after then the cubs that were also seen that morning in another area of the moor would have been shot as well and when a farmer feels a bit uncomfortable at the amount of fox's he is seeing and wants something done then i feel obliged to grant his request otherwise i am sure he would find someone else willing to do it
