None of this 1" lat and 4mm ply and panel pin rubbish that you see for sale at pet shops !! 6. Practice. Practice. Practice Buy a range finder and go out with a lamp. Pick out random objects, guess the range and then check with rangefinder. Only way youl ever learn.
  7. Ive had marlins, weirachs, and czs. Ive found that all shot about the same accuracy wise.. The weirach 66 was accurate but not practical for field use. I dont think that the hmr calibre is as accurate as people make out, and tends to be barrell fussy, in some cases needing cleaning after only a few shots to retain accuracy.
  8. Id use a .22 head shot at that range. more humane. If your going to use a shotgun go for a 12 with a decent load.
  9. As said above .22 lr and .223. job done. simples. Hmr and 22-250 if shooting on big open fields.
  10. Made the decision to give the 22 a snip long time back. now has a 12 " barrell and never looked back.
  11. Il have a look mate. Cant find one anywhere for the .17. Got caught up shopping on sat. Women for ya.
  12. As above. Struggling to find anywhere that manufactures or supplies abore guide for cleaning .17 hmr weirach rifles. If anyone could point me in the right direction,id appreciate it. Im also needing one for a tikka t3 if anyone can reccomend one. Spent too long without one. Thanks.
  13. For vermin controll there will be no difference. One will be nicer to look at, but both will kill rabbits. Ive shot bunnies with a brand new hw 66 and old battered mk1 and mk2 brno's. Both times the rabbits died. simples. The trigger on the hw is excellent but after tweaking the cz triggers can be made to shoot really well.
  14. Cant fault tikka. No frills out the box accuracy. "Does what it says on the tin"
  15. 20 inch will give you a little extra velocity but i think that 16 is the norm now days. Shorter barrels are better out of vehicles etc. In terms of ammo use whatever is the most accurate in YOUR barrel. Try a few brands at first and stick with the most accurate ones.
  16. Just a quick one to say ive added a post in the for sale section if anyone is looking for a rifle / scope combo in .17 hmr in the north east Chhers.
