  1. looks like a bit of fun that lads!
  2. I pay about a fiver a box (of around 200) from a company called Honeybrook. I don't know, but I'm sure they have a website.
  3. Good stuff Frank! Glad she's doing well.
  4. Excellent, good stuff. I've learnt a lot from this thread, from Doddsy and RainmakerKennels. So thanks both. More discussion of this nature is what's required on this forum I think!
  5. I bought exactly the same off Rabpete on E-Bay, certainly does the biz for me and by the way, so do his hemp nets..... That looks like a very good carrying box. How do you bow the back of the box without causing splitting? Any help would be appreciated!!
  6. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through this thread. It's good to see some proper debate, rather than the usual slanging match that results from disagreements (see the 'tossers' thread in the Terrier forum!). RainmakerKennels: you make some excellent points, and I liked reading your posts for a few reasons. Firstly, they were very interesting, but secondly, they were well written, and therefore easy to read. No offence intended to any other users of this forum, but that makes something of a change! Like Frank said, I think that it is definitely a case of each to their own. Balanc
  7. looks a bit of fun that! I've been planning to get my JRTs on some rats for ages, but havent got round to it!
  8. Air Arms S200. Very very good air rifle. They might be the ugliest thing ever produced, but they do the business. When my financial situation improves, one of them is definitely on my wish list.
  9. Not a bad morning mate, sounds like fun was had! I haven't started yet, gonna have a go in a few weeks.
  10. Excellent day out mate! It's true, you can't plan it, those good days just happen! My best days have always resulted from a "what you up to? fancy some decoying?" type conversation. Whenever we plan a day in the hide we come back with a small bag. Keep it up mate.
  11. That is a very nice looking pup. Hope he turns out big and strong!
  12. I've given mine fish in the past, raw and cooked, but they never seem too interested.
  13. OK, thanks guys. I think I'll probably give it a miss as I don't know if I can stand the stench!!
  14. This might be a contentious issue but what are people's opinion of feedind fox meat to ferrets? I ask because as my freezer begins to dwindle, I've been in touch with one or two mates that I haven't seen much over the summer to remind them of my constant need for kill, and was immediately met with "there's a fox in my freezer if you want it?" I've read about people feeding fox, but does anyone on here have any experience of it? Opinions please!!
  15. You should be able to get complete ferret food from pet shops, or from animal feed suppliers. If not, look online, may be able to bulk order a load. I personally feed on carcass as much as possible. During the summer, mostly they have pigeons that we've shot, or mates and mates of mates have shot, during the winter, when its ferreting season, they'll get mostly rabbits. I'll pick up road kill partridges or pheasants often, and I have a few shooting mates that get me the odd squirrel, crow or magpie. Recently they've had goose that my mate only breasted. I'm not a fan of dried food,
  16. I haven't been on this forum for ages, but I'm glad I havent been deleted, so thank you!
  17. There isn't an actual 'season' as such...ie you won't be breaking the law if you ferret in the summer, but most people stop around mid-february - end or march time as thats when the rabbits are usually breeding. A good rule of thumb is to stop when you catch baby rabbits. I'm not stopping just yet, not seen any young 'uns round here yet, I'm gonna keep going to the end of the month at least!
  18. Good times! I went out on new permission today...only had one, but had a mooch through the rest of the farm; there are some craking spots to have a go at next time!
  19. Bloody hell P&G, you are the snaring king!
