Wet or dry,its all about the fly..................
mackem replied to mackem's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Your daughters got webbed feet as well Kreet?Looks like old Jack Pikes milt flowed in scottish waters as well, come to think of it JOE must have scottish blood, his face is a sort of wierd realtree-tartan I am not going to tell anyone how to empty a chalk-stream kreet, some things are best NOT divulged The fish are all perfectly edible though, however, the method is just a little bit TOO effective Anyway,we are going brown-trout fishing soon,dry-fly only, just waiting for a hatch of some small insect types whose name is only pronounceable by an entemologist then its off we go,Tight lines Kreet -

If you inherit the bad traits its in-breeding,if you inherit the good traits its line-breeding,I would class the ability to swim at 50 miles an hour as a good trait myself Besides, you like to take baths Most of us avoid them like the plague -

Ok JOE,sit down mate, right, take your shoes and socks off There see those webs between your toes?Us normal folk dont have them, and I certainly CANT hold my breath underwater for 30 minutes mate Most of us have pet budgies, not Bitterns I think you may have inherited more from old Jack-Pike than just the family name matey -

JACK-PIKE The old man of the withens himself They even named a fish after him JOE They say his feet never once got dry, from cradle to grave Does that explain the syndactyly that runs in your family? -

I never had much success tickling trout mate,I always had more effective quicker ways of getting them, there are other methods VERY suitable, the only problem is they are TOO effective, and should only be used if you have a grudge against a chalkstream owner or similar as they appear to totally clear a stretch of water But its good to hear you released those fish, good man,we let ours go last night as well,catch-and-release,its the way forward mate Saint Apostles would be proud of you -

Easy mistake to make, moonlight illuminates a patch of grass, fish fighting upstream mistakes the shine for a salmon-leap......SPLOOOSSHHHHHHH,out it comes, either that or you found some suicidal salmon, either way......WELL DONE -

Small untruth, big untruth,it all adds up to the same thing Chess old fruit,a blatant distortion of the FACTS!So now your trying to substitute the original Daphne for a ringer,an imposter,a FAKE?Chess,I have tried to keep my trout-fishing posts 100% accurate, and re-told them as the events unfolded, warts and all,but what would happen if I did the same as you? What if I ever manipulated the facts a little? You see what I am getting at here?It has to be 110% accuracy and veracity at all times Chess, its a good job the old RAINBOW-WARRIOR himself Leegreeb no longer shows his face, that slight untruth o -

Never ridicule a guys fishing methods AG,we were just discussing last night the merits of ledgering halp a mackerel on the bottom,or using some of those 7/0 lumi-hokkais in the lake to lure some of the real monsters that lurk in the depth Then joe pointed out it might just be easier to knock the padlock off the wheel, open the sluice and empty the water But i guess that would lose us our permission so its back to the old mackerel feathers I guess, wow,I can feel another fishing trip coming on soon with old Gladys -

I call my fly Gladys after Gladys Nightingale, sister of Florence, not because she was a famous nurse like her sis,but because of her all pervading fishy odour which seeped from the folds of her heavy linen skirts, and reminded soldiers returning from the crimea of a heavily used parisian whore-house,I think mayhaps feminine-hygiene was low down on her list of priorities? Tie an additional fly, christen it Louise and fish them in tandem Kreet Good luck -

So an hour and a half from home we arrive at the waters edge, rods set up,fish showing everywhere, and a trout lake all to ourselves,it looked like it was going to be a good night, everything was going hunky-dory,till I heard JOE say............."Oh f*ck" Yeah,he had brought a fly-box all right, but not THE fly box, this one was filled with mackerel feathers, shit,i am a dry-fly purist,f**k I was well p**sed-off but nothing ventured nothing gained,so we stuck on a 6oz weight and a string of mackerel feathers, belted it out,and began a rapid retrieve...........BANG...BANG...BANG........You could fe

Walked naked apart from boots along the edge of a glacier once, bathed in a glacial melt-water stream and needed to dry off,the sun was beating down that day so what better way to drip-dry,walked naked and swam on beaches loads of times, something liberating about it
