well in this day and age we all mostly keep 2 or more ferrets as we like a good working team,a polecat in the wild will live a mostly solitary life only meeting up with a jill to mate,and seems to be quite happy in this lifestyle.im the same as stubby i have to seperate a hob during the breeding season,and it dont seem to bother him in the slightest.he gets the run of the court by himself for 5 hours a day everyday.so yea in theory im sure they will live a happy contented life by themselfs if they are handled everyday.

Why is the Union flag not displayed in your avatar rather than the Saltire? think the best thing would be to cut your losses mate and cull them,sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.you will never really have faith in them if you keep them.in all probability they will be no good for working and will just make it harder to cull later.theres always next year and there plenty kits around to replenish your stock

good advice.always put a frozen water bottle in their sleeping quarters and a cpl in the court.as you said heat stroke can kill your charges in no time at all.spray the wee buggers with the hose aswell.suprising how much they enjoy it.

interesting read,after keeping poleys for a considerable time,i have to say there are certainly diffrent traits in their behaviour.the dark hob i have took a bit longer to behave himself.the first few months he was very skittish and unsure,and tbh i had my doubts if i was actually going to get a poley i could handle.im glad to say he came good.as for his sister well she was much better to handle and works a treat.as we speak she is having a phantom pregnancy always dragging hay to build up her nest.she will drag my jills into the nest and gives my snipped hob a pretty rough time if he dares ve
