  5. hi pll,s slight problem here,,,,i have a neibour who i know well over the last 4/5years,,,,,,,she has a bitch who she wants to breed , so she can have a pup out off ( which i find understandble---as she wants a pup from her dog ),,,,,but her dog she is unsure off breeding---1st she was told staffie x alsation,,,2nd opion was staffie x collie x grey (possabillty due to her dog size and has diffrent eye color 22in and diffrent eye color one night (in 2007 ) i was alittle drunk and she said she was wanting to breed her bitch,,,and was hinting at my dog,s,,,,me being me and worse for ware

  9. It could be said that without this raw material the whippet strains of today's KC pedigree showing, racing or coursing may have never evolved. from this early concept each area of whippet breeding has developed within its selected field. The whippet became recognised by Kennel club in 1890. We do not lay claim to being the historian of the KC registered strains and will leave this to the experts in this field, but within the non pedigree strains the blood of many Great champions both Greyhound and KC Registered Whippet lines are found, such KC lines as Ladiesfield and Laguna breeding. Dependin
  10. here,s an insite to non ped whippets,,( but these a racing not working,,,,working stock is a breed off there own also ),,,,this is only an insite to pedigree whippet,s and non ped whippet,s i,e some greyhound blood involed ................................................................................ ................................................................................ . ....................................................................... It is important not be fooled by the title Non pedigree, as this could have you believe it is a lurcher breed. Many would argue
  11. LOVE SEEING THE PHOTOS OFF THE WHIPPET X GREYHOUNDS ( GREAT CROSS ,,,FOR SPEED AND DERERMATION ON TRACK OR HUNTING ) KEEP THE PHOTO,S COMING
  12. do you breed them yourself my brother,s breed,s there,s as i only keep dogs now,,,,but our family mainy races them,,and one brother doing really well with a bitch called sugar rush, when he get,s the chance to race her at big events,,,and trailing at greyhounds which she does fantastic time,s,,,qualifies at every track she runs but having said that,,,,if it just hunting ur needing,,,,working stock,,pups on hunting life will be best ,,,,,,but if ur looking for hunting but racing in summer B.W.R.A whippet would be best which you would find on k9 community web page,, ,,,ive al
  13. there a great breed,,,,i race mine but in winter give mine a chase when the oppurtunitie a rises,,,,,,,one small problem if u keep them in house like i do ,,,,they follow u every where and ur wife will love them as they always cuddle up at night,, having said that they can be very hardy,,,can take a tumble or two,,,,,,but watch for badwire fences,,,make sure u train them to jump fences rather than run thruw,,,,
  14. great looking whippet there,,, nice photo off her and her catch
  15. What do you mean regarding the 14 posts in my first day? Is there a limit? I'd avoid KC dogs of any breed. I seem to have hit a nerve with you regarding the Kennel Club, you a puppy breeder yourself? Thanks for sharing with me your years of owning dogs, I know some people who have drove all there life, still can't parallel park if there life depended on it! Can't be arsed. oh dear, lets get this back on track,a well bred working whippet is a good allround dog that will have a crack at anything game ,tough, little dogsfact . i agree whippet are great dog,s,,,,,i only own b.w
  16. i know some people,s use iodine on swollen toe,s ,,,,,think it hardens the toe but if its a crack bone,,some people,s use a chinise remedys,,,my brother used one if i see him i will ask him the name,,,somtimes u can find thing,s that might help in racing horses suply sites ( if ur dog not 100% i would strongly advise not to run him,,,,remember a dogs toe,s or feet ,is there bread and butter sort of speak,,, there,s always next time) what iam trying to say is dont take risks if its toe,s or feet,,,thats the dogs main tools,,exculding there mouth
  17. few dogs went missing up here,,,,,,seem,s to happen when crops are cut and lamping season starts,,,,,or traveler,s near by wotever the reason there tosser,s :realmad:
  18. i got a kc. whippet dog off my uncle, didn't expect much coming from strong kc blood, but he's a cracking little dog. He catches my aunts deerhounds and my grandparents whippet/saluki. i keep him with a lab/german shepherd which is very boistorous and strong but i think it has done him good, not scared of any thing and can take care of him self, he's a bull/grey in a whippets body. With the cold it doesn't bother him once he sees or smells rabbits, and i got a jacket for him for when he's standing around in the cold. Once he's in the house he's on his been bag chair on his back with his legs in
  19. if u do decide on a whippet,,,28lb to 32lb be ideal for hunting rabbits and the bigger bunnies hope u find what ur looking for,,,,make really good pet,s in the house too, ,usally quite with the few exceptions
  20. my wife insured 2 off my dogs,,,£6.50 each a month from tesco,,,online, make sure u get accidental & illness cover,,ull be suprised some dont do that just for illness, read small print took one of my dog,s , few months back to vet,s just for £110 bill,,,had to pay 1st £60,,,,but if anything went wrong they pay up to £2,500 for the next 12months of treatment,,,,,its probably just the cheap option we have,,,but it is handy to have
  21. this is one of my dogs pup,s my dog was put to a (not so well built whippet bitch ) as u can see pup is well built,,,and she not the biggest in litter out of 6 like i said in early posts if u live near me and come to me ,,,i will be more than happy to use my dog,s to mate ur lurcher (i.e) all my whippets are whipxgrey and racing breeding of my dog that prouduced this pup, can be traced back to year 1919 pic of pup my neibour got,,for hunting ---age nearly 4 months
  22. dogs normally walk ok afterwards,,,and seem to want to run about within a few days,,,,,,but if they are used for hunting or racing,,,,they have to be strong enough to handle the pressure,,,,,,also, u have to watch they are growing in correctly,,,i have heard storys somtimes they will grow upwards, thou thats not ever happened to my dog,s when new toe nail is growing in, watch for in perfections such as brusing and cracks in new toe nail,,,,wait till they almost grow out, or the same thing can re ocurr,,,( that,s only adivse if the dog runs hard and stand,s the risk of putting alot of pr
  23. had a dog did that this year back toe nail,,took him to vets as he did it in race so toe was dirty,,,and needed cleaned up,,,,most pll,s said 4 to 6 weeks,,,,,but it was 12 weeks before he raced again,,, (i,e new toe nail was,nt hard enough ) so be pepared for it taking longer before dogs ready,,,( try to keep it clean as much as possible for the 1st few weeks ) hot salt water works best
