  1. My number one piece of advice to you would be dont get disapointed if it doesnt all go the way you want it to at first. Somtimes dogs take to it straight away somtimes it takes longer. The best dogs arnt always the ones who get it straight away. Give any dog time, itll pay you back
  2. Part of my little bushing pack is Rug, a Bedlington/Springer. Shes a good all round cover hunting dog with a good nose, but is always pushing hard through the thickest of cover too. Like Dillon says, due to their size, this type of dog cant get to ground which is a hazard anyway if you like your cover hunting and there are concealed sets around. Her only fault is that shes totally mute when working, which is a bit frustrating when working large areas of downs, i suppose this is due to the Beddy blood, so i would think a JRT cross wouldnt have this fault Both her parents were wor

  5. Just got back in from an hour or so out with the lamp, not that unusual, you might think? Well tonight was the night that i finally bit the bullet and left Sophie in the kennel and took out Mia, my Saluki/Grey pup, well 13months old. Things didnt get of to an ideal start,Sophie was less than amused at being left with the terriers and proceeded to howl like a Banshee when i took Mia away.As i was only going to try a couple of local spots i set off on foot, and i have to admit, i almost returned home without even switching on the lamp due to the noise Sophie was making-I felt terrible Anyway,
  6. I know how frustrating it can be but i would suggest that the worst thing you can do is to run after your dog in this situation. It just makes a game of it for them. I would personnaly turn off the lamp and walk away from the dog, the likelyhood is that they will come looking for you, hopefully with the rabbit still in their posession! Good luck

  14. A lad i know is looking for a dog to put over his 6 year old harrier bitch. She has been worked all her life, mostly flushing to guns. Southwest region ideally, but willing to travel a bit. If no one knows of a Hrrier at stud then a Foxhound(English) would do. Cheers CM

  17. Out with my Bitch Sophie last night for 2.5hours, bit more of a breeze up than in our previous outings this year.Had a good evening really, shes getting a lot fitter now and i couldve stayed out longer but i like to biuld her up slowly.Still had 14, which is the best so far this year with her and she didnt miss many Just wondering though if anyone elses dog reacts funnilly to Mixy rabbits? We came across one in the lamp last night and although she took it eventually, she hung off it for ages watching it like she was unsure what to do with it. Anyway not a lot of wind tonight so im goin
  18. had a good time away However the wife was none to pleased for a bit because by the time i got in after lamping and into bed i only had 3 hours sleep before i had to get up and get on the helicopter. When we got their i lay on the beach and went to sleep for a few hours  (most of the day) Next time we go im going to take the dog and the lamp with me as the place is crawling with bunnies Theres so many of them because there are no foxes at all! theres not any snakes or badgers either but thats not quite as interesting.

  23. Had another look last night As usual the wind died down about an hour before i left and it was so still you could hear a fox fart from half a mile away. However there was no moon so all was not lost! Got to the first field, stayed on the outside of the gate she goes over caught rabbit in thebeam after a short run. Now, her retreive has been pretty non existent since we started up again last week for some reason so i switch of the lamp and climb the gate to retreive the rabbit and dog. Next thing i know, shes only come back to the gate and is waiting for me with the rabbit We carried
