  2. you could put it round the flaps a mate of mine used to race his bull greyhound at highgate only people who picked up on it where pikeys
  3. yeah thats the main worry i still wanna shoot my s/s regularly so learning to swop and change my shooting style might really mess my numbers up
  4. cheers matty not to bothered about choke can always have it bored out, more bothered about the actual trap gun and if they are suitable or do they shoot high and would become frustrating learning to shoot with it.
  5. iv never seen any of the judges showing there dogs the next day been going last 10 years and took me dogs every year but like all shows cant please every one but i will be going weather permiting usualy a good turn out hope to meet some of you there it is so clicky they all camp for full weekend together seen some awful donkeys of animals win just because of who owns them
  6. in the market for a cheap but solid o/u looked at couple 2nd hand mirokus but getting confused, one gunsmith offered a 30" trap gun choked half and full said this was suited to my needs ( want a 2nd gun for bit of fun clay shooting odd day out pigeon shooting basically everything my s/s game gun isnt suited 2) looked at similar gun in 2nd shop but gunsmith wouldnt sell me it said trap gun fire high and i would soon get frustrated with such a gun. Please help?
  7. whats your views and opinions on this semi auto? Whats fair price to pay for 2nd hand one
  8. no worries i could have put it better
  9. thats basically what i said but you put it better i know the length of the barrels have nothing to do with it, was just saying others where wrong saying its how many balls of lead fit in barrels because barrel length would affect this formula. I said 12balls of lead out of 1lb of lead equals 12bore
  10. in the market for an cheap but solid over and under looked at couple of mirokus, but getting differing advice from gunsmiths. I want it for a few clays abit of pigeon shooting basically everything my s/s isnt suited 2, some gunsmiths say trap gun choked at full and 1/2 would do this easy? others say stay away from trap guns they shoot high and would get very frustrating shooting with one? please help?
  11. offered a remington 1100 field, with wooden stock, is it a good reliable gun and what would be fair price?
  12. its rubbish and over priced but still go back every year, dont take your dogs because it is so clicky if your face dont fit you wont win. The lurcher and terrier show is a farce its gone down hill every year. What pleasure do these people get out of winning rosettes off there mates? eg 1st day dave judges mikes dog wins next day mike judges daves dog wins. Each to there own but not my idea of fun
  13. its not just how many can fit in the barrels because obviously shorter barrels would hold less, bore is determined by how many balls of lead equal to the barrels diameter could be rolled out of 1lb of lead,
  14. just been looking at some second hand autos quite like the look of the berreta tekny think its the al391 (?) any views or opinions
  15. what you after? books about the breed ,history etc or books on training? try charlie lister on greyhounds , bit simple but still a good read. if you after training and veterinary advice get john khonke book is quite rare and not cheap but it is the bible for anything greyhounds
  16. its defiently getting hot round here, but its all one sided few months back they issued press statement to the public to report anybody seen in fields with lurcher type dogs. Surely if you really have to report something iy should be the actual act of coursing not just walking there are hundreds of green lanes and rights of way across land round here how long before you before my mum or girlfriend gets stopped for innocently walking my dogs. To make it fair lets report every granny with a jack russell could be potential badger digger! what about the local staff owners hardcore dog fighters? I
  17. once again our local SAS wanna be sgt is on the hunt again, scrambling the police helicopter a total of 10 times this last weekend, catching zero but threatening to issue asbos to men if seen in area again. The local badger expert (?) has been roped in to give expert help on signs of poaching for example "watch out for men with running dogs walking the fields" or " look for cars in gate ways this is a prefered method of poaching transport" and finally her best word of wisdom the hunting dogs are often poorly treated and forced into the act of hunting ( i have noticed my saluki bitch cowering i
  18. really? our local gunsmith rates both says the escort is a good gun but must be shot wet? something to do with an oil soaked washer forming a seal inside
  19. never shot anything smaller than a 12bore but have recently been looking at some 20g i know the patterns different and the guns are smaller but is that it?
  20. just read review on the webley scott 912 seems like a decent good value gun at around 600pound. any body own one use one? Your views and opinions much appreciated. Not after a top quality gun got my s/s for that just want a cheap 2nd gun, the webley is multichoke, 3" chamber and lifetime guarantee all for 600 quid sounds like good deal to me.
  21. took my dogs to selby gamefair this year and they had a terrier racing track just by the main house so would think it will be there next year but look out the new jack russell pup is like grease lightning never seen a terrier move so fast
  22. start by saying goodluck with your search mate, dont want to knock anybody or there methods but i find you have to actually turn up at there door show your face dress smart and be polite. Some of the farmers round here wont even let you look in the direction of there fields so round here a letter from somebody they never met just wouldnt cut it. Its not what you know its who you know, i just recently got some permission from a local farmer because my brother played football with his son 10yrs ago he remembered the family name and said yes. Rack your brains for any connection you can find frien
  23. Sorry to hear about your dog, had greyhounds myself and its awful experience when one gets hurt on the track, but touch wood a serious injury is a rare thing, best of luck with your new pup hope she gives you many years of fun and wins the odd race.
