    Ferals

About 15 mins, they just fly to the other end of the store when you shoot one so just walk down and shoot another. Only problem a lot on the RSJ's there sitting on so have to get the cherry picker to retrieve them lol.
  2. Here are my two vehicles, mainly use the kubota but sometimes the 90.
  3. Like everyone else said, till the ferret shows no interest in the warren.
  4. Inch weld mesh for all hutches, my jills all can use 3" pipe no problem. As for getting into the shade as long as the familiar with it they will find the coolest/warmest place to sleep. Animals aren't stupid if there to hot they will seek shade.
  5. I did shoot him in the heart/lungs its the only place I ever shoot them, he was standing square on to me bullet entered through his chest. His lungs and diagphram were ripped to pieces, thats why I was surprised he managed to run. There isn't a massive population of rabbits or rats/mice (well I hope there isn't or I'm not doing my job)
  6. Been a lot of ferals getting around the grain store just lately so had an hour with the old springer today. Had to check the zereo before as couldn't remeber the last time i used it. Needless to say it was still bang on which isn't bad for a cheap SMK that are hated amongst many. Anyway here's the bag from the outting.
  7. Started the night off around a small pit hole and some cover crops as usual saw a pair of eyes from a very lamp shy fox, terriers will be catching up with him soon. After this we worked our way around one of the release pens but came up with nothing. Stopped for 10 mins trying to get some feeling back in my hands its quite cold on the back of kubota at times, finally got some feeling back and headed to an area that we haven't been able to cover for a while due to sheep grazing the stubble turnips. Anyway we stopped along side the stubble turnip field looking over a grass paddock with some larg
  8. If you cant even house train one dog, why would you want another one?
  9. Mine are fed on chudleys, no messing, no fuss and there fit and healthy.
  10. Is it only me confused by this post?
  11. £3.70 I was quoted today. Wheat £160 at the min.
  12. Don't know many that ferret in the summer with young rabbits about so should do the job through winter.
  13. If it jumps up at you twat it on the nose and tell it to get down. I don't mean be cruel just let it know who is boss. I'm dead against giving dogs "rewards" ie food. Then they work for food and not for you. The best way to steady them is a feed time, put the food down and they have to sit properly and quietly before being allowed to eat.
  14. Well didn't have to start work till 12 today, so nipped out with two jills for a couple of hours. Got to the first set of holes which is underneath an old oak tree, 3 bolted from here one of which was black. The ferrets then came out and were boxed up and off to try 4 holes next to a pit hole, the first bolted from out of the water on closer inspection there is a tree in the water and it had bolted from under it. 20 mins had passed and was about to get the locator to dig when the final one bolted followed by the ferret. We then tried a hedgerow but nothing at home so packed up and head home to

  17. been out this morning had 50plus great crack.cant wait to go again next sun day.game crops been cut now get at um My cover crops aren't cut yet but won't be long. Will be bringing the dog on for earth work but a bit of ratting doesn't hurt to start with.
  18. Six months, had him from a bloke on here. Coming along quite nicely.
  19. Took my pup and a mate took his two border x pats for some ratting around the farm. Started off turning over the muck heap which produced a few for the dogs. The pup did well nailing the first one to bolt but was a bit reluctant to let go, we then turned our attentions to some crap and tin sheets lying around. The border x pats bolted a rabbit from some pallets, we thought it had got away until there was a great deal of barking behind some reinforcing bar. Called it a day after that and the dogs all had the rabbit to eat before packing up and heading home. Was hard work in the rain and the bag
  20. Dark and blowing well, off out shortly.

  21. Had our beaters day on Saturday 29th. Was a good day the final bag was 37 which isn't massive but the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all. I spent the day back gunning and picking up so didn't get a shot off until the last drive when I was forced to the peg by the syndicate members and some beaters to shoot after the piss taking for guns missing. Pleased to say only missed one out of five so wasn't bad.
  22. Wouldn't be able to now adays they only drag sent But I should imagine you would just have to ring the kennels and tell them and they will have a look.
  23. What have fat birds and mopeds got in common? There both fun to ride until some one see's you.

  24. Your a bit to far for me lol but I cant fault you getting in early.
