  14. Hi collie, you could always give him a gift voucher for your local gun shop and hopefully if he gets some other cash gifts he could club them together and buy a new hw definately worth thinking about mate ,that way your not buying someone elses problems and he would get some warranty from the shop.
  15. The stuff I make this year is saved to drink next year. I strain through a sieve to take out the berries then through a white cotton hankie that was bought purely to use for this purpose and it works a treat..
  16. Cheers guys,I managed to pick up a box of hevishot for the ducks but not the geese cluny clays have them in stock but they are very expensive at £18.45 a box of ten, I will give them a shot to see how they perform but I think that this will be the only box I buy and I will be using steel in the future. I would have liked to try the Hevi Metal carts that are used in the link bellow but could'nt get hold of any they come in a box of 25 I think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVWCmcfPyj4
  17. Does anyone use these cartridges for geese and ducks,if so are they any good and do they perform as well as the sales pitch states, also what should I expect to pay for them...I would also be interested to hear what steel shot cartridges are performing well .
  18. We used to do these at training back in the day but I couldnt do them now....not even one.....lol
  19. Hi Dave, the problem with the pipe insulation is that the sticks won't close for carrying. Hi Mate, Mine do actually close with an elastic band at the bottom but I perfer them open anyway as I can carry them on my shoulder when out on my own. Cheers, Dave. They certainly look to close better than I thought mate.and the lagging will give good base for te rifle .
  20. I've noticed that this year too... hi what is the best way of straining the vodka/berries, i pass it through muslin a couple of times but still ends up cloudy, tried coffee filter papers these aren't has good as the muslin, any ideas ? I bought some new white cotton napkins that I use to filter my sloes off, mind you they were only white the first time they were used and they certainly give a clear end result,I just drape them in the funnel and pour through the mix .
  21. My mate was just saying that it has been a great year for the sloes and most of the bushes are laden with plump jucy fruit.....mmmm
  22. I normally only use 4oz so it can be drunk in the summer with lemonade as a long refreshing drink and I add 1 teaspoonful when I fill the hip flask for the winter,As has already been said suger can be added to taste but cannot be taken out, however you could add more vodka to dry it down a bit......
  23. My mate had a golden lab bitch that kept battering its tail on the sides of the kennel with excitement, vet removed most of her tail after it became infected. It healed no problem after the amputation and she just started to wag her whole body...lol. My mate worked her right up to the end and she enjoyed every second and died doing what she loved.
