Which powder would you recommend for re loading .223 rem? i have been loading this cal for about a month and only used H335, results seem ok but just wondered if any of you have done load testing using different powders. My rifle is Howa 1500, 1 in 12 twist so max bullet weight would be 55 grain. any info would be much appreciated. Cheers LD

Had a little spare time on my hands tonight ( wife is out ) so decided to take a few pics of my rifles to send in Then decided pics off ammo that goes with the rifles, thaught it may be usefull for people new to firearms, to see the difference in the calibres anyway this is just my little collection ithink some of you guys can show some that are alot bigger than mine!! Rifles top to bottom---Webley Seme-auto 12gauge, Howa .223Rem, Ruger .22K Hornet,& CZ .22rim. Ammo Left to Right---Cartridge 12g, .223 55gn SPSX, .22 K HORNET Fireformed 40gn Sierra, .22rim Sub-sonic & .22 rin CB

Hi mate, i have a set the same as the ones you have shown, graet piece of kit for the money very light and easy to store in the boot when not extended only thing i did was to remove the strap at the top i found it easier to use the V of the poles Great if you can make your own but remember they are not retractable Cheers LD

my .22K hornet has the trigger set to 2.5lbs, but the howa is much much heavier than that at a guess i would say 5 to 6lbs LD

Hi All, Any one know where i can get hold of some Retro-fit target turrets/Knobs, may be usefull to set and mark for varying ranges. Does anyone use them? are they worth getting? Cheers LD

Had my Howa 1500 for a few months now, generally very happy with the performance only gripe i have is that the trigger pull seems very heavy just wondering if the fitted trigger can be adjusted, or will i have to get a replacement unitfitted-if this is the case any any suggestions on what to get and where from. Thanks LD

thanks for the replys,judging by your comments seems that a springer is the way to go, and i just remembered that my future son-in-law has a HW97 which a think is fitted with a gas ram. Now i know they are good rifles but last time i had a shot with it ( about a year ago ) it seemed very rough when cocking and quite hard recoil, the rifle is used very little any tips on how i can tune it to make it a little more user friendly im sure i can borrow it --long term Thanks again LD

Hi Guys, up untill about 8 years ago all my hunting was with an air rifle, then i got into rimfire and centrefire i sold all my air rifle gear to fund my new ones. Even tho i really enjoy my foxing & rabbiting i am missing the buzz of getting close to your quarry to take an air rifle shot, and the field craft needed to do it, i also miss the close contact rat shooting in barns or out bulidings ect, Any way thinking of getting myself a little air gun just for close rabbits and rats, budget is very limited at the moment so prob be second hand any suggestions what will do the job, is the c

Been given a box of hornaday 55gn spsx heads, please can anyone tell me what is the min / max reloading info for this using H335 powder in .223 cal and what aol is recomended, sorry to be a pain havent got a reloading manual yet anyone else used these heads? Much appreciated. LD

Let's put it this way. You SHOULDN'T have to specify the chamber, only the caliber. That's all it asks for on the form. Speak to BASC about it. My FEO told me specifically that under a .22 I could hold ANY .22rf calibre round, so .22 short, .22 long, .22LR and .22wmr. The .17 calibres are similar, .17rf rounds. Some forces might try and limit it, don't let them! There is still an arguement to say does it matter, if you can't make your mind up when you apply, and then buy one, you are stuffed, you will need a variation for the next anyway. Thinking of getting a new sling and set of swivels for my rifle, i have a .223 howa and when fully kitted up is quite a lump :whistling:looking for something that is reliably strong but comfortable when on shoulder, i sometimes think these pieces of kit are taken for granted but if one failes can be very costly just wondered what type of combo do you guys use. With Gwent police,--- initial ( first ) application for firearms took eight months to clear just had my first renewal through and took a total of four weeks :thumbs: Vast improvement !! mainly due to the increased resources and personnel, my FEO was very good --straight but fair. Happy days LD -
